Mattenga's Pizzeria Wilderness Oak — Restaurant in San Antonio

If I could leave zero stars I would. My family and I visited this establishment on 4/26/25. We were greeted with a “welcome to Mattengas” by the gentleman with glasses. I believe his name was Jason. He has such great customer service. He helped us with the menu, cleaned the table top, brought us the cheese, plates and answered all our questions. He deserves a raise. He is a prime example of GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. The reason for my one ( wish I could leave zero stars) is for his coworkers. The two gentleman in the back- this part is for you guys. You need to learn manners, be a team player. Both guys were loud, rude, unprofessional, vulgar, and they were cursing so loud and the vibe of the whole restaurant was so bad that my husband and I decided to leave. We really hope the owners take time read this review. I hope they are not just hiring “WARM BODIES” to fill spots because that’s how you lose good employees like Jason. That establishment needs more Jason’s and less “homeboys” with sucky attitudes. Do better Mattengas. I will visit again BUT only to visit sweet Jason. Again, if I could leave zero stars I would. As for Jason - he gets 5 stars, even 10 stars for having to work in such a negative environment that the OWNERS CREATED because they filled spots with warm bodies instead of finding team members that actually take pride...

Awful experience this evening. Zero stars. Ordered pizza at 7:33pm for delivery and due at 8:13pm. Called at 8:33pm. Pizza hasn’t left yet. They apologize and associate says she would send a driver and it will be to my house in 12 minutes. Call back at 8:56pm. She says door dash driver (vs just driving it themselves) is waiting there for another order. Manager offers refund (48 hours so we will see) but says pizza will still go out. Driver doesn’t leave for 10 minutes then proceeds to go to the wrong location, text me that app took them there and they are 13 minutes away. Then driver shuts off communication with me, signs for the order as delivered (awful etiquette), and now the receipt says it was delivered at 8:34pm somehow on the “signed” receipt even though delivery email comes at 9:34pm and the DoorDash chat on text starts at 9:29pm and that the order took 56 minutes to deliver. Explain that math to me. Awful through and through. NEVER...

This place just opened up literally right across the street from our neighborhood; so with convenience like that we wanted to go check it out. Think we've found our new go-to for pizza take out. We decided to walk in, order, and wait. Everyone was friendly and talked us through the menu. I loved that the smallest size was reasonably priced enough so that everyone could get exactly water they wanted. We ordered 3 personal pizzas and they were generous enough to throw in an order of pizza rolls. Food was ready quickly and still piping hot when we got it home. Crust was perfect! Soft and chewy on the i side, crispy on the outside. Pizza rolls were yummy. Soft and cheesy. They gave us a cup of jalapeno ranch and a cup of basil ranch to try for dipping. They were both good but I think next time I'd prefer a cup of plain ol' Marinara. It was a great experience all around and we will...
