Papa Johns Pizza — Restaurant in San Antonio

I just ordered a pizza for carry out tonight. 9/30/2022 They were super swamped and it took way longer than expected. I’m rating this 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Because everyone in there was working as hard as they could and they were SO NICE and had such GREAT attitudes even though they were super stressed out. I’m home now with my pizza. It’s hot, fresh and exactly what I ordered. They’ve definitely improved over the last year.

I used to always order from this Papa John’s when I worked in the office because it was easy to pick up on my way home. I stopped ordering from them because they were not making great pizza for a good while.

It seems like they are back to what they used to be!! Thanks y’all for great pizza tonight! Y’all were super friendly and I know it’s hard when people are rude and you’re doing everything you can.

I will say I miss having actual Papa John’s drivers deliver my pizza. This new DoorDash delivery is not good for Papa John’s. I believe Door Dash is great for some places but if you were ever used to pizza delivery like it has been for 30+ years, Door Dash is lame. It’s rarely delivered in less than 1.5 hours. Might as well just pick it up like I did. Otherwise it won’t be fresh or hot.

Let me start by saying this review was not about the food. I picked up my pizza this evening from the Wilderness Oak location. I parked in a space that said "reserved for Papa Johns". I assumed this was for people picking up pizza like most curbside pick up restaurants. Didn't realize at the time that this might be for the drivers. Nonetheless the parking lot was completely empty so it shouldn't matter. An older gentleman Papa Johns driver pulled up in the spot next to me and said to two other employees that were sitting outside. "He has the entire parking lot to park in and he gets in one of our spots. Geez, what a jerk.". I don't know what my patients would do if I said something like that about them where they could hear me. More than likely they would take their business elsewhere. I ordered a pizza and it sat in "Prepared" for over 45 minutes. I then contacted the manager and he said they were short staffed. I was then informed that the driver was headed back and would be next on the delivery. I watched on the new app and watched the driver make several other stops ahead of me. After an hour an a half, I cancelled the order as I didn't order cold pizza. if I wanted that, I would have saved several dollars and opened a frozen pizza. I called the Corporate line and they said to enter a complaint and they would call within 48 hours. I asked how to get a fresh pizza delivered as I had family over and they couldn't help.
