We have always wanted to stop here on our trips to Borrego but every time we went, they were closed. This time we saw they were open and the kids were really excited. It took a while to unload all the kids and when we got to the door it was 3:59. They close at 4 and the closed sign was up although a couple had just walked in a minute before us. I walked in and asked the older lady if we could order. She gave me a dirty look and scoffed. Then another lady behind the counter didn’t address me but said “ I guess the closed sign doesn’t mean anything”. They were so rude we just took the kids and left. Jeremy has taken over the place, and it is spectacular. The coffee house is amazing. He uses some great coffee/espresso beans. The ice cream is also great when you want a treat in the afternoon. They have freshly made cinnamon rolls that make the whole shop smell amazing, and of course, you have to come get a brick of fudge when passing through. The fudge is made in-house and is "kiss." Everything lovely. My elderly parents both have a sweet tooth and were thrilled with so many options of indulgence, between the homemade fudges, and peanut brittle. Place has potential to become a proper café, too -- something that Borrego Springs lacks -- since it already offers bagels and rolls and other pastries, alongside with hot drinks like mocha and cappuccino.
