We went to Mom's Pie House on Main Street on our last day in Julian to have an apple dumpling. To our disappointment they were already sold out. The cashier suggested that we try their other store in Wynola, just 6 minutes down the road. She even offered to call them to see if they still had some (great customer service!) Success! We hurried down to get them. They already had it packaged up for us to pick up and we asked if we could eat them there instead. She asked if we wanted them heated up and if we wanted ice cream. Yes, of course! Now this was intended to be our breakfast and lunch, but the addition of ice cream pushed us into our dinner calories. We asked if we could have one scoop split between the 2 dumplings to ease our conscience. She very graciously agreed (great customer service!) We got the cinnamon ice cream which was perfect. The dumplings were perfection and just as good as we remembered. They have a nice garden out back with tables where you could eat, but we elected to sit at a nice table in the cute dining area. Dumplings $7.95 each. Ice Cream...

Truthfully, Momās Pie House is only 30 - 60% aptly named. That last 30% depends on whether any of the people there are mothers. I didnāt ask.
Location/Crowd This one might or not me less crowded than the one in Julian. Really depends on your timing. Parking is much more available in this lot than in Julian, so that counts for something.
Pie We got the apple crumb with cinnamon ice cream and the strawberry rhubarb with vanilla ice cream. Both were amazing. Iām not going to play favorites, but I will say that pie in general is beautiful. They should serve pie at weddings instead of cakes.
Price I donāt know the going rate of individual pie slices. Pie economy isnāt really my thing. It seemed fair, I guess.
Other things I liked the crumble crust better than the flaky, but theyāre both good. This is a great place to go before or after going next door to get cider. You can really put your apple senses into...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe go to the Mom's in Wynola because it's closer to us and I have no issue with parking or seating versus the Julian Store front. My kids eat the chocolates, cookies and Brownies while I get my Flakey Apple pie warmed up Ala mode. We usually get the vanilla ice cream but they offered cinnamon ice cream as well. The kids like how we get to walk around the back garden area afterwards. We generally come in for slices because it's a treat for us. We use to buy the entire pie but I realized my kids wanted the brownies and cookies(crunchy..my fav) instead so I ate the whole pie alone. I got the macroon to try this time. It was sweet as you can expect it to be. But the kids cookies were soooo good. The kids got free candy sticks but they didn't like the flavor very much. They also have a pretty good bucket deal selling their ice cream buckets with lids for $1. That garden is so beautiful. Perfect to try to walk off that pie...
