El Pez Kitchen & Sushi — Restaurant in San Diego

This was our 3rd time here. The food has been a hit each time! This place has Sooooo much potential with a unique fusion of Japanese and Mexican dishes like carnitas ramen! The atmosphere is cute kinda sushi bar/yakitori vibe. My only disappointment is the waitresses we've had. If they were trained better or even friendlier this place would be perfect!! 5 stars! They have that local vibe , great food I mean absolutely delicious every time!! But maybe one out of the 3 times we've gone did we have good service. The waitress actually smiled and checked on us once. Just greeting customers with a smile can go a long way. We usually do all the talking and trying to be friendly. Have to get their attention if we need anything, good thing it's a small place. The food is definitely worth it though. The sushi rolls and karagge chicken is so good!! Teriyaki chicken is awesome! Really bad customer service. I understand it’s a small business and they are busy, but giving out wrong orders from what was mentioned originally is not cool. The host/desk girl who took my phone call after I called asking them they gave me a wrong item (which I was charged). I had told her what original order and it was repeated back the way I asked. She then says well is your responsibility to listen what they repeat and to also read what’s on the receipt. Really? When you freaken cross the items on the receipt with a black sharpie? Okay yea let me errase the black sharpie. I then asked her how long would it be for me to get my correct order and it was like s almost an hour which the place was empty. My new favorite sushi retreat! During the quarantine I was able to get the freshest sushi delivered to my home from El Pez! I was so grateful to have deliciously prepared sushi and Japanese hot food dishes during some difficult times. Most recently, I got to experience dining in! And I kid you not … Once you walk in, you get transported into the fusion of easy listening Mexican music and chopsticks ready for you at your table.
