🇺🇸 Late-Night Tacos in the U.S. Are the Real Deal for Authentic Mexican Flavor

Why have I been paying 13 bucks for carne asada fries?!! I had no idea that El Gordo was on fire. My first time eating here and unlikely my last. Whatever part of a cow can be eaten, it is prepared here, including the brain. I'm not a zombie so I don't eat brains. If the restaurant feels familiar, it used to be an old school taco bell. I ordered the small carne asada fries, small adobada fries and two carne asada tacos. The fixins are fresh and plentiful. The fries were preseasoned, maybe the oil, and crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. There was a delicious guacamole and sour cream mix like the consistency of pudding. Every single bite is a balance of fries and fixins, unlike other carne asada fries. Either it's too much of this and not enough of that. Oh my stars, so tasteful. With additional ample toppings of cheese and pico de gallo. Get this! I could never eat an order of carne asada fries on my own at taco shops, always a waste and reheated is not so delightful. I can dig it that three sizes are offered based on your hunger or greed-small, medium, and large. I went at 1130 and no line. But between 1215-115 the place was packed. It can be confusing to know which line to stand in. You place your order then stand in a different line to pay for the order. It's 2021 Gordo- get efficient. Even though there are a few tables indoor, with the crowd and the line, folk may be too close for comfort while the eating. However, there is a nice outdoor and covered patio that awaits you. Each taco is about $3.00. A small care asada fries was $4.58. I forgot my water and purchased a Jamaica which was quite bitter. In all honesty, the carne asada was tough and chewy. The pieces that were not, were well seasoned and tender. Adobada fries-very good. Carne asada tacos would have been scrumptious if not so chewy. Maybe just this batch. Essentially because of the other accolades, this means there is potential to rectify the tough meat error on another lunch attempt. No vegan options. Vegetarian quesadilla is offered. Wheelchair accessible. Parking can be a hot mess. I work nearby so I walked. Located on a busy traveling street.

We love tacos el gordo, but don’t live very close. So when we noticed there was a location, near the outlet mall we hit up earlier in the day, we decided to check it out. It’s on the small side, compared to the main location, and I believe is in an old school Taco Bell. Has a decent sized well lit parking lot, indoor seating, a covered outdoor patio, and a drive thru. Google says the location was much less busy than it usually, but I can only compare it to other locations that I’ve been too. The lines for each type of tacos, and check out, were much quicker than other locations. We only had 1-2 people ahead of us in each line during our 830pm Sunday visit. The lines moved quickly and service was perfect. They easily made changes for us, flour tortillas for our adobado tacos, and a plain carne asada for our son. The horchata and orange bang were tasty, which is on par with other taco shops that use the same drinks brand. But, the tacos are where it’s at. The Adobada is always so flavorful and well balanced with the sauce and onion/cilantro mix on top. And the carne asada was a hit with everyone, even with the kiddo eating the plain taco. He asked for seconds and the adults got thirds on the Adobada. We will definitely come to this location in the future.

This place is Horrible! This was my experience tonight. I brought my sister in so she can try this place for her first time and need I should say is we are from LA but come here and there to visit family and this is always my go to spot to eat after a long drive. Anyway I stood in line with the sign that said Fries! There taking our orders was this young bearded tall guy, I ordered 2 large carne asada french fries for my Sister and I and this unprofessional Idiot asked for my name and then we went to find a table to sit while we waited my Sister went and made another line to get alpastor tacos for our Mom. She literally got those tacos less than 5 minutes. So as we continued waiting for these carne Asada fries for a long time now and everyone was getting their fry order I went to the cashier and asked if my order was ready gave her my name and she went to the cooks and asked, I over heard the guy who took my order telling her they are no longer serving fries. I was in complete Shock!!! I went to him and told him why didn't he tell me this when I ordered? He recognized that I indeed ordered earlier and then asked me for my order again (like are you Serious right now?) so I was patient enough and repeated my order letting him know it was 2 orders. When I finally got called up front to pay for our fries I seen only one order and asked the guy where was the second? He literally looked at me in the eye with a serious face certain I only ordered 1."like how pathetic can you be lying to a customer who knew exactly what she ordered and on top of that had to order it twice" so with an attitude he was like I'll just make your other french fries. I was beyond pissed and I told him not to bother and I turned to the cashier and told her because they forgot to take down our order and on top of that had us waiting for an hour for some carne asada fries and by waiting let my Mom's tacos get cold she had to give us the food for free. She went to go ask the manager and he said no and she told us we would have to pay full price. We put the food down and just darkened out empty handed. Never again will I ever come to this restaurant, their system sucks and they are unprofessional and unorganized. I don't despise Tacos el Gordo for this incident/experience because their food is amazing but this...

FIRST TIME HERE AND I WONT GO BACK EVER! I'm giving them 2 stars because the tacos have decent flavor. Minus the fact that the asada Tacos are salty and had mostly fat and they only put one tortilla so it immediately fell apart. Not a good start. But here are the REAL ISSUES..... The quesadilla was over $6 which was a joke because they served it using a tiny corn tortilla..... it was freaking tiny with little meat. And the tortilla was burnt. refer to the photo Our tacos were placed on a plate upside down .... seriously??? Why the heck would you do that??? So everything fell out. The spicy pork tacos are ok. They gave us only 2 salsas and didn't ask us what kind... or how many. How stingy could you be really? But maybe it's because they knew how tiny their tacos and quesadilla is. We ordered 6 tacos, a quesadilla, and 2 canned Dr. Peppers. Total = $34.89 This is TRULY UPSETTING THAT I WASTED MONEY ON THIS PLACE.

In addition, You can go to the drive thru but you have to order at the window and they direct you to park in the stalls to the right against the wall, which is ridiculous because everyone has a hard time backing out of the stalls, because they back out into the drive thru line. There's no space! If they had an intercom installed they wouldn't have to go through this madness.

LETS BREAK IT DOWN: FOOD IS MEDIOCRE PRICES ARE TOO HIGH FOR LACK OF QUALITY AND QUANTITY PARKING IS A PAIN CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS...
