Update:

I love this small business coffee shop. I recently returned and, for the first 6, their match latte. I usually have their terrific cortado. I had the match latte with and cranberry orange scone by "Live, Love, Laugh."

The match latte was great. I had it hot with a warmed up scone. The matcha flavor was great. They use a quality, non sweetened ceremonial grade matcha. I had them add a touch of honey and make it with whole milk. The creaminess was just right, and the matcha was not bitter in any way. It's a well-balanced matcha latte.

The scone was great, too. It offered that perfect density and flavor. It came with little bits of orange and dried cranberries, which were great. I can't wait to try the vanilla scone.

You have to be impressed with a small family run business like this one. Everyone is always very friendly and very welcoming! They offer inside and outside seating, including a lovely patio.

I really like this woman owned small business. It's a coffee shop with very good coffee and Espresso based beverages, not to mention some locally baked goods and house made bites such as croissant panini breakfast sandwiches and ciabatta panini lunch sandwiches. Customers service is...

I was riding my bike this morning while it was cool, completing several errands, enjoying this beautiful day. As it warmed up, I thought I could use a nice cold pick-me-up. I peddled to Java Garden and met the boss lady, Alena.

Java Garden is an immaculate, quaint coffee shop, kinda off the beaten path. As we chatted, Alena explained that she opened just in time for the pandemic to close most businesses, but she appeared undeterred and optimistic. Alena is very personable and was constantly cleaning and sanitizing. Love it! Think of your best friend, that’s also OCD, making you a perfect cup of java and that is Alena.

I was glad to discover that Java Garden has a strong following of loyal locals as I’m now part of that group. I asked Alena for her recommendation... Somethings like a frap, but stronger and not as sweet. She described a bunch of ingredients to be used in my concoction that I forgot as soon as she finished her explanation. In short, delicious and refreshing. I highly recommend Java Garden and if you see Alena, try the drink she custom made just for me, the...

Great stop for refreshment in a hot day! Beautiful and welcoming environment with friendly people behind the counter! Overall, great small shop go check out!

Location: Java Garden is located on Mission Village Dr. in San Diego. Decent amount of parking outside and around the area. Walkable area around.

Food / Drinks: They have a vast menu of drinks - hot, cold, caffeinated, non-caffeinated, iced, smoothie, tea, etc. They also had a good amount of bakery good options. We enjoyed an iced oatmilk latte and a strawberry banana smoothie for the kids.

Environment: Family-friendly environment and a welcoming space. We love the seating inside and outside. The mural on the wall is beautiful and gives off a homey vibe. The workers were friendly and made the experience easy, especially while we juggled two tired kids.

Overall, great store. I wish we could’ve stayed longer to enjoy the environment more, but from what we experienced, we’d definitely like...

I visited this coffee shop after seeing its great reviews, but unfortunately, my experience didn’t quite match the hype. The interior had a unique style, though it felt a bit cluttered. While some might find it cozy, it wasn’t my personal preference. We ordered lattes, but they had a strong burnt taste that overpowered the coffee’s flavor. For breakfast, we tried the ciabatta with salami and the croissant with ham. The ciabatta was mostly bread, with just a very thin slice of salami, which was disappointing. The croissant, unfortunately, was stale—I’ve had better quality from store-bought options. Overall, compared to other coffee shops and even coffee carts in San Diego, this one didn’t quite meet expectations. It wasn’t the worst experience, but I probably wouldn’t return.

I love this little café and the workers there, they've always been super nice and friendly. I've had several of their drinks and sweets, the ones that stand out are the Lavender latte, Gingerbread latte, and Pumpkin Spice lattes! I'm a huge coffee fan, so I tend to gravitate to those rather than teas, but everything I've tried so far is super good with pretty standard pricing and the cinnamon roll is definitely one of the better ones I've had in a café. The atmosphere is very relaxed, the inside is so cute too and there's a good amount of seating if you just want to vibe. They also have a patio that's very peaceful as well. Would absolutely recommend going for a nice coffee stop that isn't from a typical corporate company, this place absolutely wins.
