Great family owned pizza shop. For 20 years have searched for a great Boston/New York style pizza in San Diego. The only place I ever found was the Venetian over in Point Loma, which is too far from me, now being without a car. Reasonable prices, pizza the way you wanted it and an excellent house salad. Are usually go for takeout there, and they are open late. The first picture is of Leona herself as I am about to pay. She’s working awfully hard, I’ve been there more than a dozen times the past 2 1/2 years and she’s always there making the pizza and manning the counter. This is the kind of business that deserves our support here in City Heights.

Food was surprisingly fresh. Staff was attentive and service was quick. Garlic bread was hearty, salad was crisp, and dishes were large and tasty. I was satisfied. Neighborhood is a little sketchy... If you live here though, make sure you check it out. Meals were a little pricey for me but included the bread and salad. I wouldn't necessarily make my way to visit again but I'd recommend it to those in the area.

We love Leona's! Our experience has been nothing pleasant time after time. The pizza and service have been nothing less than outstanding as well. My children love it, and I do too. I order the eggplant parmesan sub and each time I get nice crispy eggplant and great seasoning.

Holy moly! BEST ITALIAN FOOD EVER! Worth every calorie and every penny! I don't normally like marinara, this blew me out of the water. Rich, flavorful, comforting! The stuffed alfredo breadsticks were amazing too! HUGE portions, so come hungry! We will absolutely be returning.

I'm editing to add that we love this place so much we've been back twice in about a week. Seriously don't eat anywhere else for Italian, this place wins, hands down. Each bite is like comforting hug! Not to mention they are so kind and inviting. They will make you feel like family (we were even surprised with cheesecake on our anniversary, so sweet thank you!).

Went to this place because it was nearby where a friend of mine lives, decided to try it out. They have really good lunch specials, each for under $10.

Since we went around dinner time, we decided to get the Leona's Dinner for Two, which is a pick 2 entrees and get a salad and garlic bread. The salad was pretty basic, but crisp and fresh. The garlic bread was tasty, we ate it so fast we had none left over for dinner!

We ordered the lasagna and the chicken parm and decided to share. The lasagna was really good but the chicken parm was fantastic. We got another round of garlic bread to complement dinner, and left stuffed.

The owner, Leona, is a charming businesswoman who made us feel very welcome. She was attentive and ensured that we left satisfied.

So I’ve driven past this spot hundreds of times but hasn’t stopped in.

Wish I knew what I had been missing out on. What a hidden little gem!!! And if if it hadn’t been for them being open later than others I might have continued to miss out on Leona’s.

We looked at their menu online and opted to try the good ole meat lovers. When I arrived I was promptly greeted by the staff and was told my pie would be up shortly. Got to talking to Neal and well…I stuck around and ordered their pesto breadsticks. If you like pesto give them a try!! Can’t believe I didn’t know such a thing existed before tonight 🤤
