Pho Minh — Restaurant in San Diego

Pho Minh on El Cajon Blvd may not be spotted immediately while you're driving through El Cajon Blvd, but what you will find out, it will not be your only visit once you've tried their food. Authentic, quality, variety, fresh, tasty and delicious! Their soups and stir frys are hits and popular dishes, ones you can't find anywhere in City Heights, East County or Southbay area.

This family owned restaurant is a hidden gem. You will be lured into ordering dishes you've never tried before because the pictures on the menu look so good. You may also start venturing off in trying different types of foods you’ve never eaten before based on how Pho Minh prepares their dishes.

Early last year, I was introduced to Pho Minh by my daughter. She constantly raved about all the assortments of soups she had tried at this place. She goes on to tell me that the fried calamari and fried tofu (both perfectly seasoned) will not disappoint. So, go figure, today, I am a fan of Pho Minh's tofu dish and have gotten others to like tofu too ! Expect a little wait before your meal arrives - this is not a fast food place.

Likes: vermicelli chicken (and pork) spring rolls combo, egg rolls, salt&pepper chicken wings, pho rib, honey walnut shrimp, rice plate combos, mi quang, bun rieu, bun ca...these are just to name a few

Dislikes: parking space and parking stall size

A 12-mile drive to Pho Minh in El Cajon Blvd is worth it. In fact, last week having lunch one day wasn't good enough. The family and I had to do part 2 and made it back to Pho Minh the following day !

My husband and I are new to the San Diego area. As part of settling in, we actively look for our fav restaurants in the area. At this point…..we are locked in on Pho Minh for REAL, authentic Vietnamese. This place sits amongst a few other restaurants. I actually was going to go to Pho Hoa but they only serve beef pho. We wanted chicken Pho. There were a handful of things that I was very impressed with….the woman who took our order was kind and had a very out going personality. They were QUICK. It took only 15 minutes to get our order ready. Their menu has variety and offers delicious dishes like, salt & pepper chicken wings, fish or shrimp….cheese wontons….Bahn Mi sandwiches….stir fry dishes and of course, Pho. Once we got home, I knew their Pho was legit. Made with real broth. Not fatty or salty. It’s just right. AND, their portions are HUGE. The price you pay for their meals is CRAZY when you see the amount of food you get. Not only worth it, but oh so very delicious. If you are in San Diego and are craving some REAL VIETNAMESE food. Go to Pho Minh. I promise you will not be disappointed. And please, say hello👋🏾to the very nice woman who will be your host....

Pho Minh is an acclaimed local Vietnamese joint known for its terrific southern and central vietnamese fare. Beyond its excellent pho (perfectly flavored champagne clear broth with the tenderest beef imaginable, comparable to the best pho joints in Hanoi ), its mi quang is a standout: here we have turmeric noodles cooked al dente in a rich bone broth, topped with a smorgasbord of toppings- freshly roast pork, pearl onions, banana blossoms, shrimp crackers, sprouts and mints, fresh peppers, quail eggs, giant red shrimp with the peel on, and of course roasted nuts to finish it off with a crunch.
