It was so horrible I wanted to cry. I drove all the way from LA to here and my friend decided this spot was good cause of the reviews. We come in and it's empty, only 1 group of 4 and a group of 3. No one greets us, we stand around waiting while the server chit chat away at the group of 4 without acknowledging us even after making eye contact. When we finally sit it's because I ask her if I may proceed. Our food took FOURTY Minutes to be done, no one updated us until about 2 minutes before the food was done. We only ordered 2 sandwiches and a small pepperoni pizza. No one checked on us, even after we finished eating, I had to call a cook to give us a water bottle as the waitress was too busy shining silverware and chatting to give us the check until after I yelled across the bar. Mind you the entire time we're the only ones there. The price is fine for portion but golly we were literally there for almost 2 hours with extremely horrible service. I would have gone so far as to not tip the waitress, and I've been a waitress for 3 years so it was that bad. Luckily my friend paid. Never again!!! Management should really wonder what they did wrong in hiring...

Came in a few nights ago after struggling to find a decent place to eat (I’m not from SD). It was an hour before closing and despite my hunger I chose what I thought would be the least of a hassle to make but keep me afloat for the next day. Kind of silly but I know what it’s like to close a restaurant on a Friday night. Was disappointed to stumble across multiple pools of oil/grease each time I tried to take a bite of my pizza fries. The fries were straight cardboard if they were even potato to begin with. The cheese was all one clump and the sauce was all on the bottom. I tried to bite through it but after a few bites this is all I could manage and I threw it away. By the time I had gotten it and tried to eat it, it was too late to ask for something different (they were closing). I don’t know how you can mess up pizza fries. It’s no fault to the cook as they didn’t create this recipe and the only sever working was incredibly kind. He gladly offered to have me dine in despite how late it was but I insisted on my food to go and eating outside on their patio. It’s unfortunate that I lost my appetite and the staff was too kind to ask...

I really wanted to like this place. The ratings looked great, and it’s always busy whenever I walk by, so I figured it had to be good. The staff was okay, but there wasn’t much of a friendly vibe when I came in or during my visit. The first pizza I tried was great — loved the sauce and the perfect crispiness of the dough. Unfortunately, the second one I ordered was completely different. It came out soggy and dripping with oil. I even tried to let the excess drain off, but when I took a bite, more oil literally poured out — at least half a teaspoon. I also ordered chicken wings, which one seemed undercooked and still had some pink inside. Unfortunately, I didn’t think to take a picture at the time. Later on that evening, I started feeling sick — bad stomach cramps, nausea, and multiple trips to the bathroom. I’m almost certain it was from this meal. Also, I noticed one of the servers had long nails, which doesn’t seem sanitary for food service. Overall, I was disappointed given the high ratings and how busy the place usually is. I hope this was just an off day, because the first pizza showed the potential for...

A place that not only serves great food, but great customer service. We've been here for a week. Living in a lodge, frustrated that we can't find a house. We're tired of eating at the food court so I Yelp a pizza place. In a whim, I picked this one. Our server Isaiah who was amazing and friendly even took the time to chat with us and familiarize us to the area. The lemon pepper chicken is crispy yet so tender on the inside. It was very delicious. We had the 4 cheese pizza. It had goat cheese. You must love goat to enjoy it because it's a lot. We also ordered the ham pizza. That was our favorite! So cheesy and real thin crust! This food lightened our mood. We stopped stressing and enjoyed the moment and enjoyed it. The owner Sam brought out cannolis to us and those were amazing. He stopped by at our able to introduce himself and chatted with us too. I'm so glad I picked this place and safe to say we'll come back here very often.

I highly enjoyed my visit to Pizza E Birra. I was in town at the San Diego airport and craving pizza. This came up as one of the more highly rated places near the airport. The restaurant is nicely decorated. There's plenty of tables and a bar to sit at. Very friendly and attentive staff. The pizzas are all made to order and hand made, using a big pizza oven. The pizza is fairly priced, not to high but not dirt cheap. The wait time was what you would expect for hand made. I forget what I ordered but it was incredibly delicious. The crust is thin and crispy but soft on the inside. Aside from tasting good the pizza looks good. Very photogenic food. I would highly recommend Pizza E Birra.
