I attended my first show at NCT a couple weeks ago with a girlfriend and had the most wonderful time! I'd never been to an improv show before so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was blown away. The customer service was so great from the guy who took our tickets, who also acted as the concessions salesman, to all of the hilariously talented performers on stage, the experience overall was amazing! The show was totally family-appropriate (there is a more explicit late night show on the weekends I believe) and the whole audience was cracking up throughout the show. There's plenty of audience participation but nothing that would ever make you feel put on the spot like what can happen at stand up comedy shows. The environment is fun and fast-paced and you are sure to leave with a smile on your face. If you're looking for a great activity to do with family, friends, a partner or even solo, I absolutely recommend a show at NCT!

The shows and performers change depending on when you go. If you go to the early show, they let you stay for the one after. We saw the house team and college team. Some skits were funny, some were not. Audience participation is a big part of the show. The show is family friendly (they have an unrated one on a certain day). If you like improv, it is worth a visit. Plenty of dinner options in surrounding establishments.

What a fun place to visit at a Friday or Saturday night. I really enjoyed my show. The people here are nice and friendly. The comedians are professional and funny. I love the atmosphere here. The 7:30pm show on Friday is very family friendly, which you can bring your kids to enjoy. But the one at 9:30 is unrated which is more for adults. I’ll give it a try the next time.

Side-Splitting Fun at National Comedy Theatre San Diego!

Looking for a guaranteed laugh in San Diego? Look no further than the National Comedy Theatre (NCT)! This place is a gem for anyone who wants an evening filled with hilarity and unexpected fun.

Here's what makes NCT so awesome:

Improv All-Stars: The cast at NCT are top-notch improvisers who think on their feet and create side-splitting scenes based on audience suggestions. Get ready to be amazed by their wit and comedic timing! Non-Stop Laughs: From the moment the show starts, you'll be hooked. The fast-paced, interactive format keeps the energy high and the laughs coming all night long. My face hurt from smiling so much! Something for Everyone: NCT offers a variety of shows, including family-friendly options and adult-themed nights. No matter your comedic taste, you'll find a show that leaves you in stitches. Intimate Setting: The theatre itself is cozy and inviting, creating a fun and personal atmosphere. You feel like you're right in the thick of the action.

Bonus Tip: Get there early to snag a good seat and grab some drinks from the snack bar.

Overall: The National Comedy Theatre is a must-visit for anyone seeking a night of laughter and entertainment in San Diego. It's affordable, accessible, and absolutely hilarious. You won't regret...

I've been to several comedy improv shows and this was by far the worst of all. Not only could the actors find nothing funny or entertaining to act/speak about, but they were clearly beginners who haven't had much stage or comedy experience. The audience struggled to stay energized and focused on the performance because of the poor acting and the lack of entertainment. For example, two performers were supposed to act out a scene in Paris, but they could find nothing to talk about other than baguettes and the language barrier. Another topic was "adopting an elephant." Although there are several possible ways to make this situation/scene hold-your-sides hilarious, these actors could find none. One actress was particularly unskilled and could not even complete successfully the host's instructions. Very disappointing and a struggle to sit through. I would not recommend this over-priced, disappointing bunch of amateur...
