We were here Nov 2018. We ordered the smallest family meal; the food was okay. We came back today to give this place another try. If we could give this place zero star we would. We ordered 2 salted lemonade drinks, 1st. We ordered cơm tấm bì chả thịt nướng tàu hủ ky and cơm tấm bì chả thịt nướng trứng chiên and bánh xèo. The drinks that we ordered didn't come out until the end of our meal. The drinks were nasty and not refreshing like we had them before at other restaurants. On the cơm tấm bì chả thịt nướng tàu hủ ky plate, the only item that was somewhat decent to eat was bì. On the cơm tấm bì chả thịt nướng trứng chiên plate, the item that was somewhat to eat was bì and trứng chiên was good. The broth that came with the rice plates, they could have kept that. The broth tasted nasty as well. I have caucasian friends that can make better nước mắm than this restaurant. We don't know from which region of Vietnam were these people from but their thịt nướng was definitely not from Sài Gòn. Their concoction of thịt nướng was horribly weird and nasty. Their tàu hủ ky might have a slather of shrimp and the rest of the stuffing tasted like flour mixed in. Banh xèo was over stuffed with too much bean sprouts. They used half-cooked whole mung beans in their bánh xèo. They should have left out the half-cooked mung bean then it would have been edible. Were they trying to sell bánh xèo to mostly Non-Vietnamese? On the vegetables plate that came out with bánh xèo, there was just lettuce and húng lủi. We know we will not be back to this restaurant. We wouldn't recommend this...

I recently dined at Saigon Restaurant with high hopes for a satisfying meal, but unfortunately, my experience was anything but enjoyable. From the moment my order was placed to the lackluster service throughout, I left feeling incredibly disappointed and disrespected.

Despite the restaurant not being crowded, the vermicelli soup noodle I ordered took an excruciatingly long time to arrive. Nearly an hour passed before it made its appearance, leaving me and my husband baffled and hungry. To add insult to injury, my husband's stir-fried chicken arrived a staggering 15 minutes after we placed our order, further highlighting the incompetence of the kitchen staff.

When we inquired about the delay, the staff assured us that my noodle was on its way, yet it never materialized. After my husband finished his meal, I was still left waiting for mine. Eventually, when we decided to leave, the staff nonchalantly insisted that my dish would be served imminently and handed us a hastily wrapped to-go container of noodles without offering any apologies for the inconvenience caused.

The lack of accountability and disregard for customer satisfaction displayed by the staff at Saigon Restaurant was appalling. Not only did they fail to deliver on their promise of timely service, but they also lacked basic courtesy and professionalism in their interactions with us.

In conclusion, my experience at Saigon Restaurant was marred by incompetence and disrespect. I urge others to steer clear of this establishment and seek dining experiences elsewhere where their patronage will be valued...

Upon entering Saigon, you immediately notice the restaurant is overly crowded with large, round tables from wall to wall and very little space in between to walk. The restaurant looks old, and primary decoration is a huge fish tank which, by the looks of the cloudy, green water, isn't often cleaned. Our waiter was not very attentive and could not speak clear English, which made ordering difficult and refills a rarity. I went with a few other people and tried an assortment of menu items, including a couple of rice bowls, pho, spring and egg rolls, etc. The portions are very generous, but the quality of the food is mediocre. Payment is done at the counter on your way out. However, there were no checks given to us. Rather, you have to specify which items you ordered, without anything to look at to tell you what else is left to be paid for from your party's tab. This is exceptionally difficult, since none of the menu items are in English, and we ended up getting stuck paying for someone else's side because of it. Maybe we just came on a bad night, but my experience can be summed up as ok food and bad...

Our worst food experience in San Diego so far. We ordered takeout after long, cold and rainy day wanting something warm and comforting. We ordered pho with shrimp and crispy shrimp with rice. When we got home we found out that we did not get a single shrimp with pho!!! Just broth, bean sprouts, thai basil and jalapeño! And crispy shrimp came fully shelled and shrimp have not been deveined!!! We dined at many Vietnamese restaurants where shrimp’s shell was pre-cut and at least veins were removed. My husband spent 20 minutes just cleaning and deveining shrimp which got cold by the time he was done. We wanted to call the restaurant to complain, but it was already closed. Horrible experience. We won’t be returning and don’t recommend this restaurant.

It took forever to get water, menus or to even put are order in. We asked for our own pitcher of water because there are no refills. We ordered the beef pho. And about 25 minutes latter it came. They were not stingy with the lime. The Huson sauce was a little off and taste and texture but the chili was right on point the soup was delicious when we ate it it tasted like old Vietnam which was the best part as my fiancé said I will be coming back and I will be ready for the wait this time The portion sizes were on point I walked away thinking I actually ate a large bowl of pho with double noodles and lots of beef. They do not except American Express and if they do it’s an extra dollar
