Second time visiting, this time for family's birthdays! 🎂
A little on the pricier end for a hot pot place, but overall still a wonderful experience. They really capture that authentic Chinese style, and I can speak personally being first generation.
The portions are decent and the quality of the items are very high! There are even some more exotic choices (pig brain, goose intestine, wagyu) you won't find at others. There is also a paid sauce bar ($3 per person, all must pay) and an area with free snacks next to it. As always I picked the tomato broth with bone broth as the secondary. The method of delivery here is similar to most others, but they have you fill out a large form for your requested items (you'll see it in other reviews) and they will be brought over. Some of my favorites would have to be the quail eggs, cuttlefish, and money pouch (left out the red meats since those are obvious choices). They also have something called the Kung Fu cucumber that's basically one that has gone though a mandolin and presented nicely.
My only complaints would be that they don't let you split the flavor broths into more than two per table. Also there are only two non-spicy flavors and I believe there were three different spicy levels for the hot one, some more flavors would have been nice.
The parking is also painful as the shopping areas nearby have started hiring guards to watch customers to make sure they only enter those stores and not to cross the street etc.
Sadly I forgot to take some photos myself, but I trust the photo gallery on Google will be more than satisfactory. Definitely try this place at least once! One of the best food sites on...
Read moreWhat a solid addition to the Convoy community! Shancheng Lameizi, I'm a total fan. My friend and I went around 2PM on Sunday, and we were quickly seated within minutes. There were around 9 parties eating there, but it didn't feel busy at all. They did a great job dividing up the space, as it felt clean, spacious and comfortable.
We did have to wait awhile to order. We somehow lost our waitress, and had to physically walk up to deliver our menu order after 15 minutes of waiting. Yup, you heard correctly. About 15 minutes. Maybe 20 minutes. But hey, it's a new restaurant and we totally get it! This isn't our first rodeo. They also spoke very limited English as well, as everyone was speaking to us in Mandarin. After our order was entered, everything else was smooth sailing.
We got the Half & Half pot, which was half bone broth and half spicy broth. Pssst. We got medium spicy, and it was really, really spicy. We normally can handle spice, but it definitely surprised us. While it was delicious and manageable, we both agreed to get mild the next time. Each broth were really, really flavorful as well. Definitely a fan.
They also had a very clean and well maintained self-serve sauce and snacks bar.
Overall, I would come back again. This place was pretty epic, and I can easily see us organizing big group dinners here in the future!
Pro tip: Order the Crispy Fried Pork & Homemade Shrimp Paste. Those were my absolute favorites. I'd probably order two Shrimp Paste...

The interactive dining experience was a true highlight. Cooking our chosen ingredients in the bubbling broth at our own pace not only made for a fun experience but also allowed us to savor each bite exactly to our liking. Sharing this culinary adventure brought our group closer together, fostering lively conversation and shared enjoyment.
What truly set Shancheng Lameizi apart was the impeccable service. The staff was attentive and well-informed, guiding us through the menu, explaining the cooking process, and ensuring our experience was seamless from start to finish. Their dedication to our satisfaction was evident in every interaction.
In conclusion, my visit to Shancheng Lameizi Hot Pot in San Diego was a culinary journey I won't soon forget.
