I gave 2 stars instead 1 because they used to be good. But they tried to steal my friend's cellphone tonight!! I'd visited for 7 years. I invited my friend for his first time visited his 15 years life in San Diego tonight. I'd been noticed service quality were getting lower every time I've visited but I still loved foods until tonight. Foods we ordered were taste less. I wasn't happy of foods but my friend was happy anyway until he realized he was told nobody seen his phone when we got back to look at. My friend realized he left his phone at the restaurant when we parked car at our apartment garage. I remembered he put his phone on his right side on the table. We went to back right away hoping they were still open after 10pm. Hopefully they were still open to closing up so he got into it then he went to the table where we were but no phone. He asked if anybody has seen his phone they said nobody seen. He came back to my car and look again. I called his phone but no sound in my car. He didn't turn silent so it should be ring if it in my car. He went to back the restaurant one more time then talked people who work there. I saw some servers were laughing when I was watching them from my car where it's parked front of the restaurant. I felt uncomfortable so I got out my car and called his phone if it ring somewhere in the restaurant. Yes it rang!! INSIDE OF THE COUNTER!!!! Well I actually couldn't hear because they locked the door so I couldn't even open the door but I saw my friend walked to the counter from the table where he was when I called. Hah!! My friend got his phone back and got out!! I will never visit the restaurant again. Terrible people. Terrible!! Be Aware those people working at where you use your...
Read morePhuong Trang came through in a big way for our wedding dress rehearsal dinner! My sister (a San Diego local) highly recommended them and their party trays were super affordable.. it was a no-brainer!
While party trays can't be ordered online, getting in touch by phone was seamless. I originally called a month before my pickup date, and was informed super politely I didn't need to place the order so far in advance, as the week-of would be sufficient. When I called 3 days before our event, they handled my order as instructed, and since it was considered a large order (≈ $650), I needed to put down a $50 deposit on Venmo that was applied to the final bill... super reasonable!
Pickup was perfect: order ready on time and expertly packed (e.g., wings tray was covered 3/4 in foil so it would stay crispy when it arrived at the destination) and the friendly staff helped load our 6 trays into the car.
The dishes were each tasty in the best way! The garlic wings (both butter and honey glazed) were standouts.. I caught my bridesmaids snacking on them the next morning in between their hair & makeup sessions. Even my Mom, who is famously stingy with food compliments, was impressed by the meat & seafood fried rice! The fried salted shrimp and spring rolls were solid too. My sister mentioned that one of their signature dishes is the egg roll (bc wrapped and fried in rice paper), so we will definitely be back to try those ourselves.
While we originally ordered for 30 guests, we easily fed double that party size, with leftovers for the next week... not a bad value for $650! Highly recommend Phuong Trang for...
Read moreCame here with another person and we were easily seated. This place is huge. Has tons of seats. It wasn't really busy when we went but I bet it can get super busy quick. I had the large pho bowl and fresh spring rolls and jack fruit smoothie.
The portion size for the large pho bowl is prefect. Definitely quite filling. The broth was excellent. Didn't taste watered down. Strong/deep broth flavors. Wasn't overly salty. Give quite a bit of meats, which is what I prefer.
The fresh spring rolls were good. I would have preferred either an extra piece of shrimp or for them to buy the next size up in shrimp sizes. It would balance it out much better in my opinion. The dipping sauce was fine. I don't think they make that themselves but I didn't ask to confirm.
As for the jack fruit smoothie. I've never had one before so it was interesting to try. I think it was from canned jack fruit but it was still good. Towards the end of the drink, it got a little granular, but other than that it helped balance out my pho dish.
Next time I come back, I'll be trying their broken rice as that is my next go to item when trying out this type of cuisine.
In terms of service, the staff we interacted with were friendly. All the staff helped each other out so service was never stalled. Team effort!
Side note, according to the waiter, the restaurant has been around for ~30 years. That's pretty awesome. I wish them continued success.
Overall, I highly...
