Fox and Lion Bread — Restaurant in San Francisco

All in all my favorite sandwich in the city. The food and service at Fox and Lion feel completely down to earth yet still full of passion, and the price is great. I find it really standing out in a city full of over-priced, highly-marketed restaurants. The sandwich is gourmet quality while the price tag is very approachable. The ingredients are visibly very fresh, the baked-in-house bread is always excellent, the sauce and olive oil really elevate the presentation and taste.

My favorite is their Janga's Club the very friendly lady at the shop recommended it to me the first time I visited here after a long run. Is it BIG! A three-decker stacked with lots of turkey, salami, cheese, and veggies, it tastes fresh and flavorful, and definitely satisfied my huge and eager appetite.

I keep coming back to Fox and Lion even though now I don't live in SF anymore. Whenever I'm on my way from the airport to the city I'll try to stop by. It's such a pleasure to have their sandwich in my hands and to know that I'll have a blast.

So glad I finally made it back to the Thursday Mission Community Farmer's Market and bought their bread! It is now a favorite of ours. There was a little glitch a few weeks back when Xan, the owner and baker had to get used to a new oven but it was just a one time thing and having played with baking bread myself, I understood and it was no big deal to me. Love all the breads we've sampled so far! They use freshly milled flour and it shows. Delicious!! Thank you Xan for the hard work and love you put in your bread ( haven't tried the cookies and other treats but perhaps I should...!). Note sure of the address (around 18th st in the Mission?) but I found out they'll be opening a shop in the fall, moving from another location, which will be great when the Farmer's market closes...

Often in the neighborhood and Fox and Lion is the perfect place to grab a cup of joe, a sandwich, a freshly baked baguette for your avocado toast, or a pizza to be heated for dinner later...whatever it is, everything is just so darn good. Highly recommend the Green Dream sandwich--marinated artichokes, sliced roasted potatoes, balsamic onions, avocado, and lettuce on a baguette slathered with green olive tapenade, mustard, and chili oil. Omnomnomz for days... Xan is such a presence that it's almost inevitable that Fox and Lion will be more than San Francisco's best kept secret and explode into the scene. You heard it here first.
