I did. It go there having any good expectations since I wanted the cheapest price, but it didn’t mean I didn’t want the bare minimum. The room was so small, I had to bend my head in order not to hit the hanging TV because the wall was so close to the bed. The TV itself was so high on the wall, it was no fun at all watching TV especially sorting so close to it. TV had bad quality picture. But let’s get down to the most important thing: sleeping. ||The bed mattress was the worse bI would have rather sleep on bare floor (if there was room) instead of that mattress. It was so cheap, I would sink right the middle from last of support; it was like sleeping in a water bed. And the lack of edge support also made it very hard to sit on the edge because you will start falling out as soon as you sit, so the only choice is to sit in the middle of the bed. To make thing worse, the pillows were too high, between that and your body way low on the bed, O woke up with a horrible case of sore neck that lasted three days. The lack of any chairs of desk made the bed the only place to sit or put your luggage to unpack so staying in the room for more than sleeping (or lack of) made it impossible to get some day rest. Had to leave as soon as I took my shower. No place to use may laptop or have a snack. ||At least it had a fridge and microwave, which were stacked in a corner also very close to place. Basically you could reach for anything without leaving the bed. Even the bathroom, you had to wiggle your way around the door in order to get into the shower. At least water pressure was good. ||||Last but not least, while most motels had their main entrance doors locked for security, this one didn’t, (except after midnight), and the I my time I saw an attendant was when I checked in and had to ring a bell. While checking out, a maid simply told me||To leave the key by the counter behind the glass. ||The only good thing was the location as it was within walking distance from all restaurants in the area and a minute walk from the nearest subway stop… Oh and maids were friendly. ||Sorry for the long review but needed to be specific so you know what you are getting into. Probably same thing to expect from other “hotels”||In the area, but the bed situation is a serious one if you need to get a good...
Read moreHotel Sunrise is definitely on the cheaper side. The rooms are a bit outdated looking but it gets the job done. The area itself may be sketchy looking at first but I promise you it’s a really amazing mix. What do I mean by this? The area is definitely being gentrified to fit middle class people with the various coffee shops, yoga studios, and hip restaurants/bars. I don’t like using the word “gentrified” because it’s a negative word nowadays but as a tourist this was an amazing spot to me! The hotel is steps away from great restaurants with different price ranges. The neighborhood is sooo diverse! Not too posh yet, but not too gritty. There’s a pick up spot right in front of the hotel where share rides can pick you up. I noticed uber is the cheapest company to ride with and to get to touristy areas like Lombard St, the average cost was around $6-$12. The staff are really sweet and the I felt pretty secure staying there. The door for the hotel requires to be buzzed in at night so no one is just wandering in from the street at night. In the day, sometimes the door is opened which is nice for going in and out. Would definitely stay again if I find...
Read moreYou get what you pay for: a bed to lie down almost in the middle of San Francisco. That's what you should expect and nothing else. Staff is friendly and gave us a little room update which was very nice. Excellent for solo or couple travelers who're down to exploring the city and spending time outside the hotel room. ||||IMPORTANT: Parking available in the streets!!! You will have to work on that, search for some available places and maybe get up a bit early (as I did) but... you'll end up parking your car for 5-10 bux overnight. Totally worth the work/time/lack of sleep put into getting this done.||||Not the best environment/neighborhood for late-night dining/partying; many weird and spooky guys in the streets. Also If you're willing to get a good (like: a GOOD) sleep - wear earplugs as there's always something going on in the street. ||||Overall: I would definitely return in case I need to crush for a couple of hours, have a quick shower and take off for activities. ||||P.s. Although the room is non-smoking, in the corridors you can smell some smoke. Not an issue for me, just a tip for others to...
