Simply world class cakes, tarts and cookies in the chillest (and warmest) neighborhood atmosphere. Have been coming ever since I moved to Bernal Heights last year, but had to write a review because I just took a cake class with the owner, Stacie. She is absolutely the loveliest person you could hope to learn from. She's kind of a big deal (Chez Panisse pastry chef for almost a decade) but you would never know it. Truly no ego and pure genuine love and generosity for the community. Everyone who has ever served me at Little Bee has been really cool and I like to just come in and sit, read one of their excellent free magazines and listen to the funny conversations the staff is having (Stacie is often there working too) -- and that class really made me a customer and evangelist for life! Owned by the former head pastry chef of famed Chez Panisse, it channels Norman Rockwell to fit seamlessly into the surrounding Bernal Heights neighborhood. The small display case serves up an array of sweet and savory delights, generously butter-enriched, and only those with an alien level of restraint will be able to leave with just one item.
