Looking to try something different for a change, we stopped in at Gunther's. When you walk in, you quickly realize that they have a huge menu. "On the wall" they also have a big selection of bottled sodas, a soda dispenser and lots of yummy looking desserts. The offer take out, bar seating and dining tables. We sat in a nice booth. I ordered a hot chocolate "with milk please, no hot water" (no problem will get that for you) very good and nice and hot, just like I like it. For filling my tummy I ordered a Corn beef "and" Pastrami Sammy "I asked them to mix the 2 meats" comes with milted cheese, mushrooms, grilled onions and roasted peppers. I also got a side of their Mac & Cheese. Pops got a Tri-Tip Sammy with cheese and roasted peppers. The Mac & Cheese is creamy and cheesy 3.5 stars The Hot chocolate "with whip cream" hit the spot 4 stars The Tri Tip Sammy pops said was good but the meat was chewy 3 stars My Pastrami and Corn beef........ Wow!! The French bread crust was crispy on top and soft in the middle and had a nice sour dough taste. The combo of Corn beef, Pastrami, sauté onions and shrooms with the cheese and roasted Peppers DAMN!!! 5 stars all day every day!! The Sammy is also really big, I was only able to finish half. Pops asked if I was gonna share the other half with my wifey "I think my expression said it all, cuz pops started laughing" sorry hunny this ones all minezzz

Had to make a stop at Gunther's today. The food taste home made and fresh. The waiters and waitres were great. Very helpful and knowledgeable on the food and menus. I had to try the beef stew in a cup and a tri tip sandwich on a fresh sour dough bread. It was delish. Took me to NOM NOM city. The place is not too big. Kind of medium size inside and cozy, on a busy location in West San Jose. Meridian and Hamilton. The deserts OMG is a whole different splendid experience. Look at the menu's they have and I took one picture of the cakes and cookies they show in a glass cabinet when you enter the facility. I totally love the German theme this place has of the food and decorations in the restaurant. If you want to try something different in your food restaurant. Stop by Gunther's you will be satisfied. I guarantee it. I have been to this place twice. I have some photos of the pancakes and breakfast sandwich I had back in 2023. They have catering service and specialize in the desert and sweet yummies they make there.

Below is my raving review from 7 months ago! It was for a 5 star local gem! Today I am disappointed to say that my experience was awful ☹️ I tried placing an order on DoorDash and it shows that restaurant is open but unable to place an order. I called the restaurant to inquire expecting technical glitch answer and was also considering to switch from delivery to pick up. The person who answered the phone was rude, cursing and said that they are busy and placing the orders is turned off. No apologies, nothing! This is how you lose customers and embarrass yourself for a no reason. Needless to say I would probably go elsewhere this time and every next time. Original review: Neighborhood gem found! Impressed with food and with their attitude! Ordered lunch on DoorDash and got wowed!

Got a French dip sandwich, au jus, and fries with 2 cookies for dessert. The fries were crispy on the outside and properly soft (but not too much) on the inside The French roll was toasted nicely and had a good light crunch. I asked for extra cheese and they really listened and it was good quality meat to go with it. The dip (au jus) seemed made in-house and was well balaced in meaty flavor and not too salty. I have been places where the dip was super salty and overpowered the sandwich, but not here. It complimented it well. I would say its about the saltiness of some ramen broths I have had. The cookies smelled good and looked like they had been scooped with an ice cream scoop. I am excited to bring them home and warm them up

When I asked my sister for a souvenir that was a local treat, this was the place that came to mind. So we went and I got a Baker’s Dozen of their chocolate chip cookies. Initial impression was that they looked like muffins but make no mistake, these are cookies and they are freaking awesome. I was going to just get a couple for each of my kids back home but I’m glad I went for more, these are great and the kids absolutely love them. As a nice bonus the owner chatted with us a few minutes and was so very nice. The staff was very welcoming and if we weren’t there for just cookies the food they had looked super-good! Next time I visit my family in San Jose we will have to eat there!

It's not Katz's Deli but it's definitely the best you're going to find in the South Bay. We tried the Hot Pastrami, the Rueben, the Corned Beef AND Pastrami Philly (my fave of the three), the Matzah Ball Soup, Knish and Red Cabbage. ALL were good. They also brought us hot, gooey, fresh from the oven chocalate chip cookies while we waited outside (COVID restrictions). Thank you, thoughtful waitress! The lady running the register was having a bad day but the rest of the staff were all very friendly. We'll be back because there's waaaay too much yumminess left on the menu to try!
