Kampai Sushi & Grill — Restaurant in San Jose

Food was good. We ordered miso soup first and the bowls we got were 1/4 full. I wouldn't be complaining if they were complimentary, but they weren't. We ordered 4 speciality rolls and the baked mussels. All yummy! Then we all decided to order one more item to share and right after we did, they gave us the bill. We didn't ask for it yet as I was going to order another beer and dessert for my daughter's birthday. It was so rude that I was really put off by it. We were served by a male server and a female server was over seeing all the tables. She was the one that brought us the bill so I felt bad not tipping our actual server. But I did leave a note on the bill. Sadly, I don't think we will go back to that...

Sashimi is fresh and yummy. Some rolls are a hit or miss. Their Ramen soups are not very good. Service is friendly but incredibly slow and confusing. The servers forget things all the time and the sushi chef drinks while making your order = forget or choose to forget you come here to eat. It can take up to 30 to 40 min to get a 16piece sashimi plate and another 10to 15 to get something as simple as baked clams or spicy adamame. This is down the street from our house, so we try to support them, but I'm pretty fed up with their disregard for cleanliness and lack of care for their customers. The management/ owner don't care. You are better off going to Tomo Sushi or sushi boat off...

I discovered this restaurant when I was looking for to-go foods before heading to the drive-ins. I love sushi and decided to give this a try. I always order a bento box as it comes with miso soup and salad. One of the options was a chopped 6oz sirloin steak that was part of the bento box. All I can say is that is the best steak I have ever had in my life. The steak is so tender and the flavor just melts in your mouth and I definitely recommend trying this with your bento box.

Overall a great place, the staff is really friendly and would recommend anyone who loves sushi for to-go. I am honestly a loyal customer. Hope to be back again to...
