New neighborhood park with a history and agricultural theme. Opened in 2015, but parts of the park are still under construction, with no word as to when it will be finished. The park has several nice, clean, picnic sites to choose from. Some are for groups only and require a reservation, some are first come first serve. There is a children's play area called "Uncle Monty's Discovery Farm" (named for one of the family members who used to live on the farm), and it is next to an expansive green lawn area, complete with stone amphitheater. I haven't found a very accurate way to measure just how many miles of trail i have walked in my time there, but i would guess its a little more than 3 miles, all together. There will be more once the back portion of the park opens! Looking forward to it! Dogs are allowed, but must be on a maximum 6 foot long leash at all times. Coyotes have been known to harass unleashed dogs in the earlier parts of the morning or closer to sunset. On the weekends, their visitor center/ history museum is open to the public and the park rangers and docents give at least 1 tour every Saturday and Sunday, rain or shine. There is a $6 flat fee for parking for the day, or you can pay a lesser rate if you're just there for an hour, otherwise walking in and the tours are free! Recently the park has gotten a new trail access point on its northern boundary and construction on the remaining portions of the park's perimeter trail will likely begin in...
Read moreI recently visited Martial Cottle Park, and it was an absolute alright of a time! The park offers hiking trails that are perfect for outdoor enthusiasts and families, finally stretching their hamstrings after a winter of dormancy. You can see several stone farm animals that are to scale up close and personal.
The park is well-maintained, and the restroom facilities were conveniently placed at the end of the parking lot. Plus, at just $6 for an all-day entrance, it is an affordable way to spend the day out in the sun. While there is an option to pay per hour, I would suggest sticking with the all-day entrance fee.
One of the best things about Martial Cottle Park is that it's open until 7 pm, so you can really make a day of it. It is an excellent spot for throwing outdoor parties or picnics, and the educational visitor center is a great way to learn about the history of the park and the local area.
Your dog needs to be on a leash in this park.
Bring your comfortable shoes and sunscreen, as there's so much to see...

This beautiful piece of property is a community treasure in Blossom Valley. Representative of what this place used to be, farms growing produce to feed the local population.
One of my favorite parts of the park is the UC Master Gardener Martial Cottle Park Community Education Center.
The park also features livestock and a great playground for children. There are several covered spaces for larger groups to use for picnicking. There is a small office at the front entrance of the property that also is a museum of the history of this place. Highly recommended that you stop by and learn about the place you are visiting.
On any morning, afternoon or evening of the week you will find many people out on the trails that surround the perimeter of the park, walking, biking, rollerblading, skateboarding.... The closest thing to motorized would be me on my electric scooter. The trail is a flat one with no shade, if you're visiting midday, be...
