Roam Bean Coffee — Restaurant in San Jose

I ordered take out, two Banh Mi & Coffee Combo, one Combination Banh Mi and one Grilled Chicken with two ice egg coffee at 50 percent sweetness one Hanoi style and Saigon style for the other.

I toasted the sandwich when I got home. Nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Their house mayo is good and flavorful. But the amount of meat is truly disappointing.

For the Combination Banh Mi. there was barely any meat, the pate was also missing. Not sure if I would call this a combination sandwich. Same issue with the grilled chicken. There was barely any meat on it, but the flavor of the grilled chicken was very flavorful. I would love to try again as the flavor was all there, but please considerate of the portion size. Near Vietnam Town, I can get Banh Mi for the same price with three to four times the amount of meat.

The coffee was too watered down for me to consider it Vietnamese coffee. Vietnamese coffee should have a more bold and rich flavor. If I was to judge it on a normal cup of coffee, I think it was decent. It was brewed nicely that the coffee was not bitter, it had a few nice notes to it. But was way too light for me to consider it Vietnamese coffee. The egg foam lacked a lot of flavor, creaminess, and richness compared to other Vietnamese coffee stores.

Tried the egg foam coffee with three different brews to see which one works best with it.

Americano: This one was a bit too watery for us. It’s basically coffee + water, so not much to rave about if you prefer stronger coffee.

Milk Coffee: Hands down the best of the bunch. Super creamy and refreshing, and definitely worth the extra $0.50 they charge. If you’re looking for something that really goes well with the egg foam, this is it.

Black Coffee: Strong and flavorful, with a bold kick. If you like a good, strong black coffee, this one’s solid.

Overall, the Milk Coffee is a 10/10. The Black Coffee is 8/10 (great if you want something stronger). The Americano, though, is more like 6/10, it’s just water and coffee, not our favorite.

Very misleading Goggle info, it did not mention it was only a pick up order centre! I expected it was a decent coffee shop and served with pastries or cakes. No, it was not. I was surprised that it was a pick up centre. I parked my car on the street and did not feel safe. It took 15 minutes to wait for a set meal: a drink and a sandwiches! The waiting area of the center made you feel uncomfortable. It said it could serve hot coffee but ended up with a cold coffee with ice!
