Las Lomas Bakery — Restaurant in San Juan

Las Lomas Bakery is known for its pan de piquito and wallet-friendly prices—finally, a place where you don’t have to trade a kidney for a sandwich and a coffee. That said, it looks like the pastry chef is on strike, because those display cases were emptier than my fridge the day before payday. The kitchen and register run on full zen mode, which would be perfect if I were on a spiritual retreat and not starving for breakfast. After 10 minutes in line and another 20 waiting for my order, I had plenty of time to plan out my entire week. The staff is so friendly you almost forget your stomach is staging a protest. The sandwich wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but at that price, it was definitely worth it. Parking is available out front, though snagging a spot depends on pure luck.
