Five stars are not enough to describe how good Boulevard Burger on MacArthur is - they deserve like 27 stars out of five!
Their fresh, hand-pressed patties, cooked to order, will embarrass any burger in an at least five-mile radius that would be so foolish to try and compete with them. Classic Burger? Giant Burger? 1/4 lb. Burger? Sam's Burger's? The "other" BLVD Burger? The Habit? Five Guys? In-n-Out? Even Val's Burgers? All laughable (although I will give Val's an honorable mention in this category).
Boulevard makes the best ground beef patties in the local biz. PLUS these crazy people offer the most insane alternatives to ground beef you could imagine, including salmon, bison, Kobe beef, hot pastrami, pulled pork, and the list goes on and on. The alternatives are like a LONG list of daily specials though so you never know exactly what special delicious hot meat sandwiches they're serving up. Regardless, I'm confident every last one of them is insanely yummy.
They also have beer and wine, and a self-serve soda fountain, as well as super milkshakes (malt available too). My personal favorite (and I found this out by accident but should have KNOWN they would be this awesome) is their banana shakes: french vanilla ice cream with REAL BANANAS in it!!! Like seriously people, WHO DOES THIS ANYMORE?
The bottom line about Boulevard Burger is that they make their food for you the way you would make your food FOR YOURSELF. They don't go get banana flavoring and add it to your milkshake, they go GET A BANANA.
They don't go get a frozen slab of ground beef and a frozen slice of processed bacon, they hand press your freshly ground beef, cook it TO ORDER (perfectly, I might add), then fry you up a few slices of real fresh bacon, slice you a chunk of real cheddar off the block (unless you ask for processed american cheese to be unwrapped from it's plastic, you strange person), and put those things together on a fresh baked bun with fresh toppings on the side and condiments on the table. THAT'S HOW YOU COOK FOR YOURSELF.
If you LOVE you a real burger, you owe it to yourself to go get one at Boulevard Burger on MacArthur. You will...
Read moreNeighborhood burger joint with great food. All their beef is GRASS FED (which didn't come up on my Yelp search). They have brisket! They have Kobe beef! Grilled cheese! They also have a good sized parking lot. Don't let the empty tables inside fool you - they get a lot of to go orders. Why 4-stars instead of 5? No table service. Also, my to go orders have been a little...off. First to go order: My cheeseburger patty on a salad, when I arrived at home, had the patty stuck to the top of the to go box. The salad is gigantic, and really has no room for add ons. The second to go order, a few weeks later, was okay. I asked for a half order salad with patty, but they said they couldn't accomodate that - they only have one size of salad. So I ordered a cheeseburger with a salad instead of fries. Perfect salad size. Next time, I will order without the bun (I'm restricting carbs for health reasons; it's working great! thanks for asking!), as when I opened the burger to remove the bun, almost all the cheese was melted onto it, so I got to eat none of the cheese I...

Before meeting with a client in San Leandro, my boss recommended that I stop for a bite to eat at Blvd. Burgers. My husband did the drive to SL with me so he was happy to rewarded with a beef patty, and I was excited for the veggie burger!
The simple burgers we ordered ($6.70 ea.) came with fresh tomato, lettuce, pickles and red onion. My veggie burger was really good, but the patty was kind of small. I added the veggies from my husband's plate to mine and ate it all.
The tables each have condiments on them: catsup, mustard, spicy mayo, hot sauce, relish, etc. and there is a fountain soda machine ($1.75). I had water, even though the ice cream shake was recommended to us. (And we saw one on another table that looked great!)
Caitlin was working the register when we ordered and another young man promised to clean up our plates as we left. Service was very friendly and the place was...
