This place has a "run-down" feel to it with not-so-Japanese like interior. I stepped in not expecting much but was still quite disappointed. I don't like eating sushi at a non-Japanese restaurant so concerns and wasting money was top of mind as I opened the menu.

The menu was pretty standard, some rolls, some a-la-carte dishes, udon, katsu, and a modest selection of sushi. Prices were extremely reasonable so at least we felt we could sit through the ordeal.

Boy were we wrong. The sushi was simply one of the best in the Bay Area. It definitely does not have the art and finesse of a high end joint but they used generous cuts and had made it with love. It sort of felt like sushi made by your mother rather than a professional chef. Equally tasteful but with a different philosophy.

The udon and tonkatsu were above average. But again, it really felt like homestyle cooking and not a restaurant. Yes, the presentation could use some work. But there is something ernest about the food here.

Japanese restaurants in the Bay Area are a dime a dozen. Most try masquerade as a delicious eatery while failing to prepare a basic sushi with fresh ingredients. Others hide behind the potpourri of random ingredients in ridiculous rolls concocted with unnecessary creativity. Compared to all of that, Furagu is down to earth and offers a comfort meal. No...

Was in the area on Thursday and found a lot of shops closing/closed and found this little sushi restaurant. Inside is pretty unassuming with homey decorations and furniture. It’s definitely a family run business. They have a lot of different rolls and combo for bentos/rice bowls. We ordered the bento 3 with chicken teriyaki, sashimi, and tempura. It also came with some california roll pieces, rice, salads, and miso soup. We also got the furagu roll and honey roll. We also ordered the edamame that came out nice and steamed. The honey roll was okay, we didnt love the cucumber in it. The furagu roll was really good though. Both rolls had decent cuts of fish. The bento was really worth it. Definitely meant to share it with all the stuff it came with. We couldnt even finish the whole thing. While the presentation and cuts were not the best, the food was still tasty and decent portions. Service was also quick and helpful. Definitely seems like a lot of locals come by and are good friends...

I entered this “restaurant” at 1:40 pm on Wednesday 05/10/2023. I was going to know if I my wife and I could celebrate our first wedding anniversary there. I wanted to check the menu and book the table on 28th of May. But first I needed to wash my hands because they were dirty after filling up the washer reservoir in my vehicle. When I asked a waiter (don’t know his name but he was an Asian) if I may use their bathroom, he told me: No, only for customers. I told him that I am going to become your customer, he interrupted me and said: you must order first. After that I told that I want to buy a can of soda and was going to pay by card. But he told me: only cash. I was feeling awfully about that and finally they let me use their bathroom. Such an unpleasant staff. Of course I will never be back...

No ganache. All love.

The staff is super friendly! The environment is good! The service is great and fast! Most importantly, the food is delicious, sashimi is very fresh!!! I called on the phone for take-out. The order is ready within 15 mins! I asked whether I could customize the items for my lunch bento box! They did it for me with a small price increase, which is wonderful! When I arrived, I figured I had some time to dine in to finish the food. Luckily, it was early on a weekday, they had tables available and let me dine in! Highly recommend this restaurant and would love to come back!!!
