I have no idea how a burger joint of this caliber seemling out of nowhere appeared in the Peninsula. The beautiful tall stack came out with a fabulous visual presentation. The bun is like a pillow. But what truly makes Sal's special is the overall balance struck with the bun, the perfect patty, the right veggies, and Sal's special sauce.
Now, it is relatively straight forward to make burgers taste good on the first bite. It's fatty and greasy by nature and that's what we all chase. However, if the burger isn't "balanced" in its greasy to flavorful ratio, it quickly turns into a chore munching through. Sal's solves this problem with fresh and crunch veggies but also, a sauce with a bit of a spicey kick to it, just enough to hold everything together.
I can see how some might say it might have too much of a kick given that it is the "base" flagship and some kids might need to explicitly avoid it. But without it, I can assure you that the burger can come across too greasy. In addition, there's a bit of Middle Eastern / Asian twist to the entire fare with the sauce and the way the veggies are prepare but it works out beautifully.
The burger incessantly amazes till the very last. Oh and the fries and milkshakes were great as well.
Absolutely a 5-star burger. Great things await...
Read moreHeard about Sals burgers from social media and had to check it out especially as it is Muslim family owned business.
Walking up to the restaurant you’re greeted with ample outdoor seating. The inside is also a cozy clean vibe. The service was fantastic as the employee was more than happy to answer any questions about the menu items. They have plenty of sides as well as milkshake options.
I ordered the classic burger with a side of garlic fries. The burger itself was very thick and made with fresh ingredients. It definitely tasted like a meatier burger and I do wish it had more juice/sauces on it. They did provide sauces on the side at the table however! The garlic fries were definitely worth getting.
Pricing definitely felt slightly on the higher side but may be in line with Bay Area pricing.
Overall, highly recommend visiting and supporting this locally owned business. They offer high quality food with...
Read moreI never give 5 star for food unless it's the top 5% In its own category, but I tell you this it was a tasty burger would of liked it a little more juicy, but either way it was very tasty, but what got me to sit and order his cheesesteak right after enjoying the cowboy burger was because Sam the owner offered to take care of my bosses meal as well as my own, only after my bosses credit card was declined, I declined of course and paid with my own card, but it was his kind heart that sold me on this establishment! So this is why I gave 5 on service, and a 4 for the atmosphere was due to the cleanliness of the dinning area, but the restrooms needed some improvement (we discussed that and he was very humble on the advise giving. The decore was perfect fit it had a homley type feeling, not overly to busy, they kept it simple but enjoyable!!
Go check it out if...
