Gene's Chicken & Pizza & Seafood, Inc. — Restaurant in Sandwich Township

For context this place was reccomend for me from someone who lives a minute away, and they offered to pay for my meal. I get in and there is no host, no signs saying to seat yourself and the register was at the complete other side of the restraunt. Me and my friend walk to a register and there is a teenager working and I ask her if we just sit down wherever and she seemed confused then moments later she says oh yea just sit down wherever, also to my excitement there was a pibb xtra on the pop machine. So I sit down. Then a man who did not speak english in the slightest brings us menus and silverware asking us what we'd like to drink my friend asks for lemonade and the man looks confused then a second later says ok lemonade and asks me for mine, I reply with Pibb xtra and the man looks very confused and asks me if I wanted pepper (dr pepper) and I reply with no, pibb is different and the machine said pibb, so I told the man to hold on and I would show him what I meant, so i get up walk to the front and the man follows me and i point to it and ask the teenager again, is the machine pibb xtra or pibb and she stutters and tries to say its dr pepper and I say so it's not pibb? And she tries to explain that they are similar and I interrupted her stating that I know the difference i would just like to know because i like pibb but not dr pepper and so the (i believe) owner or some woman in charge asks me the problem and I started saying I wanted to make sure the pop was pibb and not dr pepper so I didnt get the wrong thing and she tells me she'll handle it (she had a very thick accent and didn't speak English) so I go back and sit down explaining to my friend what i said and then approximately 4-6 minutes later she brings us our drinks and says our waitress will be there in a while and walks away before saying she Is very busy while walking and we start looking at the menus and the font is small, things are jam packed on the menu and the prices were ridiculous and the wording was very terrible if you wanted Extra toppings or fries with your burger? An extra 4 dollars so me and my friend try and figure out the menu and wait another 5-7 minutes before deciding to leave and pay 5 dollars ($4.98) for pop that was more than halfway full and when the menu said 1.99 for a small with no refills or 2.49 for a large with refills and I try asking the owner why the pops cost 5 when the menu states the small and no refills were 2 dollars a peice and she gets very confused and I give her a 10 dollar bill to pay for my 4.98 check and she takes a minute to count it out then gets confused and grabs a calculator to hand me a 5 dollar bill and 2 pennies. My wife and I went into Gene's in Sandwich to try the pizza there. They hand a special $7.49 for a 12 inch with one item .great price! So we each like our pizza differently. So she order a 12 inch with sauage, I ordered 12 inch with pepperoni and asked for extra sauce. I figure maybe a $1 extra charge for the sauce. The server didn't advise of any extra cost when I requested extra Sause. Sooo I get the bill and it seemed a little bit too much . So the 1st pizza with sausage was $7.49 The one with extra Sause was $12.49 and another charge of $3.50 So I asked what was it for? She tried to explain to me and it didn't make any sense to me.so the owner came to explain it. He said " because I wanted extra sauce it was a extra item "so I had to pay the regular price for a 12 inch which is $12.49 and $3.50 For extra sauce. So he upped the cost $3 for extra item the sauce , I think at this point I paid for the extra sauce at $12.49 But Noooo ! He charged me another$3.50 for the extra sauce making my $7.49 pizza costing me $16 . So my extra sauce cost me $7 And my pizza went from $7.49 ,to $15.99. The owner was very Offensive and said I'm losing money on these specials... Well not my problem!!! HUMMM , SO JUST TOTALLY HUMILIATE ME LIKE I'M STUPID !!

TELL ME. Am I wrong for questioning this ? I wasn't going to get into it to far with him. So I paid the full bill I am not a genius but I paid almost as much for extra sauce as I paid for my wife's pizza. $7.49 for her pizza and $7 for just extra sauce. Can anybody. Make sense of this??.

There is no doubt the Quality of the food in restaurants has declined, the prices are way out of control and finding good help has become a task that seems to be a long shot. But customers are the most important thing to any business. And I was the customer not the excuse he isn't making money on his specials. Its tough in any business these days but Really, do you treat customers with such classless Ways of acts of influence in hopes they...

We got a 16 inch deep dish with sausage and mushrooms... The cheese was exquisite and delicious of course I would love more sausage but in the future I might order extra sausage instead mushrooms. I also think the deep dish might be a better choice in a 14-in. But that's because this pizza was so big and so heavy, but cooked to perfection. The 16 inch thin crust we ordered was delightful. We got Italian beef, bacon, and pineapple ( otherwise known as a beefy Hawaiian) and it was so gorgeous and it was so delicious. the crust on both pizzas light and a bit airy but sturdy. Everything was ready at the time it was promised. Prices are comparable to the other non-chain pizza restaurants...
