I saw this tiny little place hiding out in the little shopping center next to Me-N-Ed's, and wandered in to peek at the menu. I liked what I saw and ate there the next day. Yummy! The adobada here is the closest thing to my favorite in Mexico, tortas/tacos al pastor. Adobada isn't as common here as asada or carnitas, and most of the time when I find it offered somewhere, I'm disappointed. Here, it was tasty and cooked right. The Tamarindo and Jamaica juices were good, also. I would've liked to have tried the Horchata, but they were already sold out of it that day. They also make sopes and breakfast burritos with many combinations and include nopales, also hard to find.
A complimentary basket of chips and a bean and cheese dip were brought to the table. The girl working the register was very friendly. There were two mounted big screen TVs playing Spanish news and a soccer game.
The layout is a little odd, though. For example, the soda machine is immediate to the left of the cash register, which is awkward as customers wanting refills have to cross in front of the person at the counter (or wait until they're done deciding/ordering). It would make more sense to switch that machine with the cold drink fridge across the room. . .
It's not the cleanest place inside. The floor and walls were a little dirty and the tables and chairs were sticky, but it has A/C, so that's a plus. I did not see a restroom. It has about 10 tables, but I'd recommend doing what most people were doing - ordering to go or picking up orders they'd called in. They're open from 7am to 8:30pm, and I plan to order a bunch of burritos for...
Read moreThis was my first time here but it was very delicious! I ordered the spicy chile verde fries (no sour cream, no guac, no pico de gallo. i am picky). It was ready in about 5-10 minutes. The sweet lady who took our order was very kind and even gave us some spicy bean dip to try (IT WAS SO DELICIOUS). I am the ultimate cheese lover and i didnt need to ask for extra cheese because they gave me plenty!! The “spicy” option is not overwhelmingly spicy, it’s the perfect amount of heat. There was limited seating, but the quality of food and service compensated for it. I think with some more interior decorating this place can be one of the best Mexican restaurants to come to in the Central Valley :-) I am not from Sanger but i would definitely come back here from...
Read moreLas Cabanas Taqueria located in the city of Sanger. CA is a gem in a "hole in the wall"! Their barbacoa meat is superb!
I personally dislike when other restaurants prepare their meat with a red sauce. This location does not and I love it. I feel it's the best all around.
You can buy a family package which includes 2 lbs of barbacoa, rice, beans, and even warmed up corn tortillas! What?! That's right! My entire family loves it.
I've come back time after time. Please note you may have to call ahead you'd order because it van sell out. Also it's more if a take-out this sit down location. They seem to be very busy during the holidays so plan ahead. Try them...
