After watching the burrito episode of Taco Chronicles on Netflix which featured this place, I headed straight there, almost by involuntary motion-- I had no choice but to indulge in these mouthwatering creations. And boy, did it NOT disappoint. You need to know the size of these burritos makes it so you'll want to order more than one (admittedly, I eat 3-4 at a time!), and their prices make that a totally reasonable indulgence. I think priciest birria "con todo" is $4.25 and comes with the traditional stewed beef, their trademark, creamy, lard-richened beans and cheese, swaddled in an AMAZING house-made flour tortilla. Pro tip: Get an order of tortillas to go, you'll eat them plain even throughout the week. There isn't one burrito on this menu that will disappoint but my favorites are the deshebrada (juicy shredded beef, green chile, and potato)-- I add cheese to this one even though it doesn't need a damn thing. The birria con todo, as described above, and the simple bean and cheese. The way these burritos are packaged for takeaway (no on site dining provided- no problem!) make it so you can eat the burritos at your leisure and even the next day. Zero sogginess, zero greasiness, excellent hot, lukewarm, or reheated. The salsa it's served with is perfection. I'm totally addicted to this place and have a hard time staying away. It's a once a visit, period! Staff are super friendly and the place is clean, clean, clean and fast to serve you up. Tip well, this place...

The meat, the tortillas!

Okay so when I visited there was construction on the street by the entrance so there was only one entrance. You have to come from the north to turn in. Limited parking because of this. But it seems to run pretty smoothly.

I found a burritos to be a perfect size in fact I could even finish two, but I'm a very small eater I have friends who could eat burritos the size of a baby's thigh so they probably would like to get five or six of these for a meal. There were burritos are comprable in size to that of the average, uh, male appendage in America.

Prices are so affordable and the staff is super super nice. I'd like to give kudos to the man who correctly pointed out my time that my food and be ready to like the minute. During the busiest time of the day.

They do run sometimes run out of certain burrito meat on busy days (which is everyday) so come earlier than later. Especially if you want the stewed beef one, that one's just ohmygod delish!

The tortillas are thicker and a really perfect texture just super delicious. Kind of seemed like a thick lefse to me, but that's my Norwegian bias.

It was worth the trip from LA to OC......

This place is the epitome of what is possible when you get a simple dish perfectly right in every detail. The signature faux birria burrito here is perfection wrapped in a tortilla. It starts with the tortilla actually, one of the few handmade flour ones you'll find around here. Then the stew, which is beef not goat, perfectly prepared. There are no ingredients in the burrito besides the beef and whatever spices it's stewed in, and anything else would be a distraction. These are small burritos, they have a combo that includes three of them with a Mexican Coke. That's actually a lot of food, so you'll leave full, but at least for me, two would not be quite enough. I love the birria burrito so much that I haven't even tried anything else on the menu yet, though I'm sure that's all good too. Finally, everyone here is friendly as hell, from the owner to the people working in the back to the lady on the cash register. They make us feel really welcome every time we walk in the place, which isn't necessarily the norm in a hole in the wall like this (though it should be). I don't have enough words to praise Burritos La Palma sufficiently. Just...

Thanks to the foodies on TikTok we gave this place a try and it's a MUST if you're craving burritos. These aren't like the giant, super stuffed California burritos you're used to. Two or three will do the job but if you have a big appetite, maybe four. I tried the Frijoles con Queso and the Birria, con frijoles y queso. Highly recommend!!! This is the perfect alternative to Birria cravings without the mess. The tortillas are really good too. If you're still not convinced, let me include that while I was waiting for this place to open, a line was forming...a local school bus driver stopped by as well as a man who came directly from the airport with all his luggage in tow, it's that good and I'll be back here for more during my next visit to CA.

My wife and I heard of this place from watching the Taco Chronicles on Netflix. We happened to be in town today so we gave it a shot. We were greeted by a friendly and attentive staff, an easy to read menu and a number of people happily waiting for their meals. I ordered one of everything. Admittedly, the burritos are smaller than other establishments but these burritos are delicious! The birria burritos are amazing, the chicken burritos have a great smoky flavor and probably my favorite, the chicharon, delicious. The wait was short in time since their staff was so quick to deliver the meals to those who were waiting. I wanted to go back as soon as the last burrito disappeared on our way home. I can't wait to return!

Stopped for a try of California's best burritos and had the birria burrito and a bean and cheese burrito. The bean and cheese burrito was very soft, perfect temperature and comforting. I would definitely recommend the bean and cheese. The birria one was lacking substance. I felt like it was missing that fatty flavor from birria. The hot sauce was watery and 'eh'. A place that didn't have seating in the restaurant should have a salsa bar in my opinion. But I didn't mind eating it in my car. Overall, I will be back to try other food items and the bean and cheese burrito again.
