Montesano Market & Deli — Restaurant in Santa Barbara

I don’t know if I have ever written a bad review in yelp before but I also have never had such an awful experience in Montectio before! I’m back and forth from LA and but had never been into Montectio market and Deli before so we decided to go in and check it out today. Upon walking in i was in love with the store, it has so many of my favorite things, I was so excited! Admiring the atmosphere I went to take a quick video of the store for my instagram. I was then confronted by the store owner who in VERY rude condescending and confrontational manner said, “ I prefer no one take videos of my store, because I don’t know if your representing someone “ I told get it was for m but it wasn’t a problem and deleted it so she could see. She then said I should have asked before doing so… ummm why would I think to ask if I can take a video of a public retail store that had NO sign anywhere that photos or video is not permitted, I am not in your home and there is nothing proprietary information or items. The manner she spoke with me and approached me was beyond called for and too bad for her because not only will I NEVER spend one dollar in there and well when I shop I shop, I also will share my experience with everyone and on my social media platforms instead of posting a video on them saying how cute the place was a promoting...

I’ve been coming to this Deli for years, even before it was bought out by the new owner, and I can vouch that they still have great sandwiches made with fresh ingredients. I drive all the way out from Goleta to come get my usual order of the Genoa salami Italian sandwich along with a bag of chips and have always had a pleasant experience in the store and with the staff members (especially with Ray!) However, today I was met by the rude store manager (who I think goes by the name Leslie) as she tried to upcharge me for my order. I was confused on why the price was more expensive this time around and tried asking for clarification. She was dismissive, gave a cold response, and acted annoyed to even address me. As a regular customer, I am extremely disappointed by how I was treated today by Leslie. She also claimed to be the store owner to justify her rude behavior, but she doesnt know that I know the actual owner, who is Jean Montesano!
