Came in here for dinner on a whim. I had seen chicken and rice restaurants around and I'm starting to feel like this is becoming a thing for easy small restaurants. Was impressed by how simple the menu was with what looked like three options for rice and two or three options for chicken protein. Reminded me of what McDonald's used to be and what In-N-Out Burger is today with not many options which tends to mean you're really good at the few things that you do. I opted for the panko chicken as I am not a fan of boiled chicken in general. In retrospect I probably should have gone for the boiled chicken which I believe is boiled in onions and a salt brine which may have been a better experience as that seems to be a classic chicken and rice dish. The chicken I had was not memorable in flavor and was not special in any way from other similar types of chickens I've had from other restaurants. There wasn't anything wrong with it there just wasn't anything particular. In addition to your meal you also get a cup of their broth which you pour yourself on a side table as well as a selection of different dipping sauces and spices for you with your chicken. I tried a couple and didn't find one that matched the chicken I was eating which may be part of the reason why my experience was not significantly great. In retrospect I probably should have tried a sweet sauce of some sort vs. The garlic and saucy versions that I had chosen for myself. For my rice option I tried the chicken rice which is a flavored rice. That also didn't really pack a punch to my taste buds so it was sort of lost in the whole experience of the meal. Because I don't frequent this type of food often this is just my initial thoughts on a first-run. I wouldn't mind trying this place again or another similar place but this one did not leave an...

Who does not love Chicken and Rice ? It's the great combination of protein and carbs. I found this place through their Facebook page where they are offering a BOGO deal right now through July 15th, 2020. You must register on the Facebook page before you can get the deal. They send you an email and text message to confirm. I heard of @ChickenMeetsRice and I have been I wanting to try it out. I got the Poached Chicken (Dark meat with skin), chicken rice, Cucumbers & Carrots, and Chicken Soup as my first place with dipping sauce (Savory Ginger and Ginger Scallion oil). My second plate was Fried Chicken (White meat with skin), Chicken Rice, Cucumbers & Carrots, and Chicken Soup with dipping sauces (Sesame Teriyaki and Savory Ginger). Every was fresh to made and very quick, took less than ten minutes for both plates. I really like Poached chicken with the Savory Ginger, it was the perfect combination of flavors and taste. The Ginger Scallion was good also, but I think it was a little salty for me. The Fried chicken was good, but it was only offered in white meat but I prefer dark meat. The chicken was moist in the middle and had a crispy outer layer to it. The Sesame Teriyaki went better with the fried chicken because it had more of a Katsu feel to it. The soup was a perfect liquid to help me push down all the food. They offer two special items, Soya Eggs or fried wings. I definitely recommend this place if you are craving chicken, but if I went back I would only get thw Poached chicken because I personally prefer it over the fried chicken. Try then out before the offer expires. They are opened everyday from 11 AM to 9 PM. I like how they only offer contacless payments only and no cash....

What is the most important thing for a restaurant? Food, of course. I really wanted to like this place. The other reviews sound great. I love the idea of specialization and I love Hainan Chicken Rice. I've had them in NY, I've had them in Singapore and really love them.

I was very encouraged when I walked in and the place is trendy, well decorated with very friendly people working behind the counter. The order taker that greeted me was very friendly and very enthusiastic. Waiting in line for 10 min to order was no issue for me. The place was 90% full. A good sign.

I ordered combo #2 - poached and fried chicken because I wanted to try both, and curious about the fried chicken skin that I've never heard of.

I sat down and waited about 10 min when my name was called. I picked up the dish with great anticipation. Then the huge disappointment.

The rice was bland with none of the infused chicken flavor I was expecting. The poached chicken was dry, I mean really dry. Even the dark meat was on the dry side. All the other Hainanese chicken I've tried had its claim to fame for being moist, even the white meat. This was the opposite.

The fried chicken was very thin, with hardly any chicken. It was dominated by the panko crust.

The fried chicken skin was hard to find and it tasted greasy and bland.

The soup that came with the meal was hardly worth drinking.

The ginger sauce was OK, but I was expecting mashed ginger paste that traditionally goes with boiled chicken.

The website says they opened this place because they could not find any good Hainanese chicken in the bay area. Based on my experience, that has...
