We visited Puranpoli today - being Pola festival today. Before writing any further, I would like to clarify that restaurant is a very tough business and only a few customers who go to restaurants understand (really or in-depth) about intricacies of running such a unforgiving business. Having said that, it is a " For Profit" business and thus it deserves kudos as well as brickbats.

We ordered Puranpoli ( Sweet flatbread with jaggery/sugar and Lentils) - It was simply awesome. Had enough ghee and filled with sumptuous amount of Puran. While some may feel that cost ($ 6) is on higher side, but the taste is amazing.

Bharali Vangi (Stuffed Eggplant) was prepared well and had taste of coconut and peanuts, which is how it is prepared in Maharashtra. Two chapati's were good. Bhakri's that we ordered were average, but we have had better.

Sabudana Khichadi (Tapioca Preparation) My wife liked it as it had full peanuts and whole preparation was good.

I have always eaten at home roasted, coarsely crushed peanut in the khichadi and that is how I like it. But restaurants can not probably make it. Case in point- We had Sabudana Khichadi at Radisson Blu Nagpur and they prepared it exactly in the same manner Puranpoli restaurant had prepared. So may be I have to know the nuances of this.

The restaurant was almost full and still we found one table. The service was quick, specially comparing to the crowd. We saw Vada Pav, it looked very appetizing. Next time we will definitely try it.

I have seen some negative reviews, specially about Pavbhaji- Pav being too buttery and Bhaji being runny/watery.

Good Pav's are buttery and best bhaji's that I have eaten are always on the runny side and never too thick. As an avid foodie, please trust me on this.

Overall this is a place where we feel anything you try will be a solid B+, just stopping short of A as it is missing some wow factors. On the brighter side they do offer 10% discount for...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Puranpoli, an authentic Maharashtrian restaurant, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. The restaurant's ambiance was delightful, and the option to sit outside added a charming touch to the overall dining experience. The availability of ample parking space was definitely a plus, making it convenient for visitors.

As a group of two Mumbaikars, we were excited to indulge in the authentic flavors of Mumbai cuisine, and Puranpoli did not disappoint. The menu offered a wide variety of traditional Maharashtrian dishes, allowing us to explore and savor the true essence of the region's culinary heritage. From mouthwatering street food to delightful seafood preparations, every dish we tried was bursting with flavors and cooked to perfection.

One aspect that stood out to us was the reasonable pricing. Despite offering top-notch quality and authentic flavors, Puranpoli maintained a fair and affordable pricing structure. This made the dining experience even more enjoyable, as we could indulge in a variety of dishes without worrying about breaking the bank.

Furthermore, the restaurant had an ample number of attentive waiters who were always ready to assist and serve us. Their knowledge of the menu and willingness to offer recommendations added a personal touch to our dining experience, enhancing our overall satisfaction.

Overall, Puranpoli is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Maharashtrian cuisine. With its inviting ambiance, abundant parking space, extensive menu, reasonable pricing, and attentive staff, it checks all the boxes for a remarkable dining experience. Whether you're a local looking for a taste of home or a visitor eager to explore the rich culinary traditions of Maharashtra, Puranpoli is the perfect destination to satisfy your cravings and leave you...

A Slice of Maharashtra Bliss - An Unforgettable Experience at Indian Maharashtra Restaurant

My husband and I recently dined at the Indian Maharashtra Restaurant in California, and we were utterly delighted by the culinary journey it offered. The highlight of our experience was undoubtedly the Puranpoli, a traditional Maharashtrian delicacy that left us craving for more.

The flavors of the Puranpoli were authentic and brought a taste of Maharashtra right to our table. The perfect balance of sweetness and richness in every bite was a treat to our taste buds, leaving us in awe of the culinary mastery displayed by the chefs.

The food was not the only thing that impressed us; the ambiance of the restaurant added to the overall experience. The place was brimming with people, exuding a lively and vibrant atmosphere. It's evident that the restaurant has earned its popularity among locals and visitors alike, creating a warm and welcoming environment for all.

To our delight, they had my favorite Maharashtrian sweet, Modak, on the menu as well. These delightful dumplings filled with coconut and jaggery are a true delicacy, and we savored every bite with delight.

The service was attentive and efficient, making our dining experience all the more enjoyable. The staff was well-versed in the menu, offering suggestions and ensuring that we had an exceptional time.

If you're seeking an authentic taste of Maharashtra in California, this restaurant is a must-visit. The delectable Puranpoli and the charming ambiance make it a place worth returning to. We left with hearts full of contentment and memories of a wonderful evening spent indulging in the flavors of...

Vada Pav is listened as a starter but honestly it’s so filling that you can probably share an entree. My favorite was definitely the garlic naan and the Kadai paneer. the last dessert was reccomended by the gentleman next to us and I’m so glad because as a coconut lover I approved, sooo good! Prices are very reasonable (Sorry if I butchered the names of any of the plates) 📸 Mango lassi Ginger tea Vada pav Sabudana khichdi Kadai paneer Garlic naan Puri Sukhi batata bhaji Bomba y biryani 📍 Puranpoli 3074b Scott Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95054 Follow @andoperdidatraveling for more! #indianfood #bayarea

Amazing discovery for a very good fix of Maharashtra/Mumbai street food. Run by an enterprising and friendly Roshan Sivalkar (spelling?), they dish out some of classic street fare like batata vada, pav bhaji, missal pav. They also do dishes like kothimbir vade, sabudana vada - stuff which is available at very Maharashtrian eateries in Mumbai, but not available everywhere. The food smacks of quality. From the word go, it is very evident that they use high quality and authentic ingredients. The taste of the missal pav and pav bhaji were on point - they immediately transport one to Mumbai! Even the pav (buns) of the pav bhaji were buttered and seared to perfection. Very good puran poli too - rich and mild. The freshly steamed modaks were divine. The batata vada tasted good - but could do with tad more salt, and be slightly smaller in size. The ingredients used were very good even for these though - no complaints there. The restaurant is like a self service restaurant, with disposable crockery and cutlery kept at a station on the side. The dishes get served to the table. And one is meant to clear out the table after finishing one's meal. The kitchen is clearly run under very good supervision for that quality to be maintained. I learnt that it is handled by Roshan's sister and mother - so I assume the spot-on recipes are theirs. They had a tough time initially because COVID hit the world within a couple of months of their opening. The restaurant struggled to survive. But thankfully, with community support, they have come out of it and are doing roaring business thanks to their quality. On the whole, strongly recommended.
