I was really excited to try this place. And granted, we went there a little before 10am on a Sunday, so, a busy time. There was a little bit of a line but it was moving reasonably quickly. By the time we ordered they had already run out of biscuits. We live up north, 75% of the reason to drive all the way down south is to eat as many southern biscuits as possible. This was hugely disappointing. I have worked in bakeries before and I get it, there's a ton of prep involved and you can only get so much baked before a certain time but half of your menu is about BISCUITS. There is absolutely no excuse to run out of them in less than 2 hours. Maybe try baking less of the other stuff? We got our breakfast sandwiches on their bread instead - and it's good bread, but it wasn't what we wanted. And then....they got my husband's sandwich wrong. We'd been waiting 25 minutes for the sandwiches to come (for a to-go order) and we didn't have time for them to correct it as we had other places to be. The design of the place creates total chaos, staff goes back and forth through two doors on either side of the sitting porch constantly and I'm shocked we didn't witness any collisions. To add insult to injury.....as we finally got up to leave, a cook came through the doors with half a tray of new...
Read moreWe live near Santa Rosa and decided to try this small little business out. I ordered smoked salmon bagel and my spouse ordered the turkey sandwich. First off the ambiance of this establishment is beautiful. The employees are very young but appeared to be working diligently get orders out but appeared to be in pain speaking to customers. The price of food is over the top considering what you get is subpar. I am a big fan of smoked salmon with capers. I opened my box to find the greens and salmon thrown in. With 15 capers scattered about. The cream cheese is very blan with no taste. The Asiago bagel was toasted well though and was the only item that tasted good. The turkey sandwich is something that my 10 year old could make at home. Nothing special about it. Considering these two meals cost over 35 bucks and they add a 15% gratuity without asking. I was later informed by other reviews they remove it upon request. This is the “wealthy” side of town so taking advantage is what some businesses do best. As we are not from this side it seems that “wealthy” people need to understand what quality food taste like. Advise is this, I would consider reviewing your menu, tasting your food for the cost you are charging, training employees to greet customers without seeming detached...
Read moreOf all the coffee shops within a 2 mile radius of grayton beach (I think there are actually 5), blackbear is my least favorite. It’s expensive and the service is below average. I’ll explain first concerning the coffee. I ordered the iced coffee, and the only sizes they had were the 12 ounce or larger 20+ ounce no 16 ounce to be found however they charge a 16 ounce price for a 12 ounce cup. The taste of the coffee was somewhat flat so if you’re going for quality of product, I would recommend, you go to badass coffee, which is right down the street that have Hawaiian blends or even Hotz , which is closer to the beach. I suppose my biggest beef in this world of over tipping, is that they automatically add a 15% gratuity to your order. This results in a very mediocre if not dismissive service experience. what makes it worse is that the point of sale system creates a confusing last screen that request even more of a tip for this mediocre service. Maybe it’s not the case with all the employees, but the young lady that waited on me could have cared less.
In the end, I will not go back since there are so many choices for both better product, better pricing, and much...
