Review: Crackings
Nestled in a cozy corner of town, Crackings is a delightful gem that promises a warm and inviting start to your day. From the moment you arrive, you're greeted with the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the sizzling sounds of breakfast being lovingly prepared.
The star of the menu is undoubtedly their Gouda grits. Creamy, rich, and perfectly balanced, these grits are a testament to the culinary prowess of the chefs. The subtle smokiness of the Gouda cheese blends seamlessly with the smooth texture of the grits, creating a dish that is both indulgent and comforting. Each spoonful is a delightful experience, with the cheese adding a luxurious depth of flavor that elevates this Southern classic to new heights.
But the Gouda grits are just the beginning. Crackings offers a variety of breakfast favorites, each prepared with care and attention to detail. Whether you’re in the mood for a cinnamon roll, perfectly cooked eggs, or a hearty breakfast sandwich, you’ll find something to love on their diverse menu.
The service is another highlight of Crackings. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about providing a great dining experience. They make you feel right at home, adding a personal touch that enhances the overall charm of the place.
In addition to the fantastic food and welcoming atmosphere, the prices are very reasonable, making it an excellent choice for both locals and visitors looking for a delicious and affordable breakfast.

Read moreLook, all you need to do is believe the reviews. 4.7 from almost 500 people. I went with my wife while on an anniversary trip down 30A. We took a long walk and ended up here. Some guy was playing his guitar outside making requests, Jenna - our server was upbeat and cheerful, the sun was out even though it was a little cool. We almost sat inside but it felt a bit stuffy. And we wanted to "people watch" while my wife sipped her blood-orange mimosa. She had the breakfast sandwich and I had the huevos rancheros. All the flavors were spot on. Everything tasted good. The chorizo, the corn tortilla was still crisp under the chorizo, black beans, and eggs. Eggs over medium with yolk running out when cut. Salsa was good. BUT THE POTATOES, they were still crispy and hot, without being greasy. Golden brown. Look, I have had Huevos Rancheros from Spain to Honduras, and I am not saying these are better, but they are right up there for taste and presentation for their version. It was just the perfect scenario and food. Sunny day with a slight breeze, acoustic music in the background, great server (Jenna), mimosa was tasty...all with my beautiful wife. Sometimes ambiance and situation can enhance tastes. I think I took one picture because I just couldn't be bothered. But there are so many on here it didn't matter. -- Excellent food and time with my wife right here at Crackings! [loved the menu too, you'll visit a few times if your...
Read moreThis is proof of why small, family-run businesses can't be beat.
My wife and I went yesterday morning for breakfast and were seated outside immediately. Service was quick, friendly and accurate. Food was wonderful.
Next morning, we set out a little later (around 10 am), but it was a Sunday, so all the joints on 30A were pretty slammed. Ended up sitting at one place only to leave five minutes later due to a rude server and hostess. Tried another couple places that only had about 40% of the tables occupied but were told that we'd be waiting 1+ hours since all the spots were already reserved. Not sure how you run a business this way and expect to max out your revenue.
We looked at each other and said, "Wanna try that place (Crackings) we went yesterday, and see if they can get us in?" Glad we did. It was packed, too, but we arrived at the hostess stand and got on the list. The owner walked up as we were finishing entering our names and reassured us that we would likely be able to sit more quickly than the time that was listed.
Sure enough, we only waited about 5-10 minutes and were seated. Same, exceptional service and food ensued.
This place is a well-oiled machine that treats you like family. Their entire family participates in running the place which, I'm convinced, is the reason for its success. No substitute for true...
