As a resident in Sarasota for more than 8 years now, Wok Inn has taken a special place in my childhood memory. I explicitly remember, years ago, that we would have dinner at Wok Inn every Sunday. It's a small, family-ran, business, but the work is well organized. Their service was excellent and have special treats for my brother and I. Even during the pandemic, they were one of the only restaurants to remain open and maintain their food quality. I understand that there were a lot of changed, we could not dine in for nearly 2 years, but just the sheer difficulty to operate a restaurant when public health safety is a concern is unimaginable and their ability to continue to cook delicious food is nothing other than the work of God. They had the door blockage for a long time and only offered take-out. It was amazing that despite being muffed in a container for more than half an hour, the flavor of the food was still mouth-watering. The texture of the dish and temperature would definitely get a little mushy and cooled, but hey, you can't do much about thermodynamics and osmosis of something after it has been sitting in the container for half an hour. Till today, Wok Inn still is my go-to place for Chinese food in Sarasota. To be specific, American-Chinese food. While yes, it is not authentic, but that's pretty much a common factor in all Chinese restaurants in a city without a large Chinese population. We have seen some changes like their "Get something free when your order is ..." and the changes in dine-in. They've removed most of the tables for dine-in when they re-opened back in 2021-2022 and progressed into a "Take out only" restaurant. You can still sit down and eat, but they do not offer any dine-in service like before. Anyways, this is a review from a customer who had 8 years of experience at Wok Inn, and I'm telling you that the quality and deliciousness of their Chinese food has been consistent as it was 8 years ago. They've become like family to me and always welcomed customers whole-heartedly. Thank you guys SO SO MUCH for being part of my life and I wish your restaurant and family nothing but the best...
Read moreIt was a struggle to rate this restaurant. 1 star for the cleanliness, environment, and food safety practices. 4 stars for taste of food. Hunan chicken was great. Chicken tender. Sauce just right thickness with no stickiness. Veggies crisp. The shrimp in lobster sauce was fresh tasting with lovely lobster flavor. Shrimp were cooked perfectly. Egg drop soup tasted good but had an almost neon yellow color from some flavoring packet. The kitchen and dining area was terrible. I wish I hadn't seen the inside!!! Piles of junk everywhere. Food storage sitting on floor. Trash piled in kitchen near food products. Leaky fridge with mildewed wet towel on floor in kitchen. They have TOP RAMEN CUP OF NOODLES sitting in their storage (see pics). I wonder which menu item gets faked with that garbage. The place is a train wreck of needing...
Read moreI got the Chicken Egg Foo Young dinner Take - Out. To my surprise, the Chicken Egg Foo Young itself were 3 small onelettes in a small pint box. In my experience, they've always been large onelettes in a big box, especially for dinner size. Perhaps because of language barrier, I wasn't told it also came as a combination size. But it was mostly my fault for not reading the menu more carefully. The taste was good. Unfortunately, the brown sauce was watered down. But the white rice added taste. I ate nearly all of everything. I was actually planning on ordering one of their tofu dishes. However, since I've never eaten there & most of the names were thrown off with other terms that I wasn't familiar with, I decided against ordering anything with possible tofu. Overall, it was a...
