Anejos — Restaurant in Sartell

Went all the way from Princeton (45 minutes) because of the reviews. Called to make reservation as requested on the web site. When we arrived we where greeted and I said had a reservation for Jason. She couldn't find it and asked if it was take out. I said no but had called few minutes before. She seemed to deliberately slap pages on the note book open looking for it till she finally found it.

Then we where seated and she never said another word again. I went to the bathroom and when I returned my wife ran out to our vehicle to grab her glasses. Then we watched the older male waiter walk by us to another tables 3 times. Finally my wife got up and went to the front door where the hostess and waiter were talking and asked if we could order. I got up and said, "No thanks, it's been well over 15 minutes already". Honestly I was scared of what might happen to the food, to many movies I guess. By far the worst experience we have ever had by the hostess and being forgotten/ignored.

On our way out few people where setting up an out door dinning area and one happened to be the owner. We chatted for few minutes and I meet his wife too they are very nice people! Seemed genuinely sorry for our issues and wanted to give us a certificate (I assume free or discounted meal), we refused as I didn't want to make things worse money wise with COVID etc. Needless to say we won't be back to try unless we move closer.

Worst part is we went to another place on the other side of town (closer to where we live) and had an amazing experience after appetizers, meal and way to many adult beverages (had a DD!) I felt bad spending $$$ at a food chain not...

One can visit Añejos and be completely content if all they consume is the complimentary chips and fresh made salsa. Limiting yourself to just that though would mean you're missing out on the amazing margaritas and menu items.

The margarita fresca is a must try if you appreciate handmade drinks, it uses fresh squeezed juices and a tequila of choice (it is kinda spendy); the standard house marg doesn't disappoint either if you're looking for a classic beverage that's well built. A small amount of reviews accuse the drinks of being weak compared to other places, often these complaints are misguided. If you're looking for an artificial syrupy lime flavor with the sting of bathtub tequila you won't find it here. Rather the fresh lime juice pairs nicely with the smoother tequila they use which creates a great drink experience start to finish. Just because you don't have an overwhelming sting from cheap tequila doesn't mean your drink won't get the job done.

The menu is diverse and spans from Tex-mex to near authentic Mexican fare. In traveling through most of the menu I've found the burritos fajitas and Añejos Molcajete to be my favorites.

(Parenting win: if you have kids (or not) and they don't like Mexican food, order the kids chicken nuggets. Fresh chicken breast slices, battered/cooked in house that taste amazing. Kids enjoy them, but more importantly, parents will marvel at the ability for a pediatric meal to taste amazing enough to transcend the 12 and under suggested age limit. It will be one of the rare times you hope your kid doesn't eat all of their food..so that you can swoop in and...

Went to sartell location with a friend to celebrate a promotion she got at work. I ordered two tacos, my friend ordered fajitas. The food took 45 mins to get to the table, but only my friends food came. I waited for the server to come with my food but nothing came, I finally asked the server where my two tacos were and she said 3 more minutes without giving an explanation or apology for the fact that my friend was almost done with her food while I have not yet got mine; not to mention that my meal was about as basic and easy as it comes. I waited for another 10mins and told server that if food was not done I don’t want it anymore because my friend was already finished and it has been over an hour. She said it was just coming up. Finally, 5 mins later I got my meal. At this point I was pretty unhappy, then I found that it came with all the stuff I had asked not to have. Flagged down a manager and she apologized and said that they had “some problems” in the kitchen, but somehow my friends order and many other tables orders came out before mine. She said she would take it off the bill, which she did, but never received any apology from the server or honest explanation for why things took so long. I ended up taking one bite of the food, which was Luke warm at best. Needless to say it was a really bad experience for my first time there, and I had high hopes because I had heard good things from people. I will not be trying it a second...
