Family Hot Fast Food BBQ — Restaurant in Savannah

Not sure what they have going on here, but I guess it is what it is. The ribs here are great, well at least they use to be. I would have once rated this place as excellent, but all of a sudden the prices spiked as the plates got smaller. To walk in and look at the menu is confusing. The menu quotes 6$ small, the father quotes 7$ small the next week, and the following week the son quotes 8$ small, with all of the tops cut off. The last time I checked, a rib is not the length of your pinky finger. A slab comes out cut into strips and fits in a small Togo box without request. Where dey do that at?😲 The sides are scooped with a extra small baby sherbet scooper and the bread, well sometimes you get a slice, sometimes you don't. Nevertheless it doesn't affect the price. Overall I assume if you can naw enough off the bone, or if you are blessed with a gristle, you may enjoy the smoke flavor. Good luck with dat. But if not, just ride on down Ogeechee Rd with your head hanging out the window and your mouth open as you drive by the Family BBQ hut and suck in as many AIR CLUSTERS you can. Terrible service. I called before to see if they were open and they said they were. When I arrived to order lunch, the two guys working there started mocking me and saying that I sounded “white” over the phone. This went on for a minute until I finally said, “I can go get my food somewhere else”. They started backtracking and saying that it’s basically a good thing to sound white because it means I have an education, a statement which was equally offensive. I tried to pay with my card and they immediately say “cash only”. They said they can take my card but they have to charge 2 more dollars. Every bbq place I’ve ever gone too takes card or at least let’s you know before you place your order that they only take cash. So I go to pay the extra 2 dollars with my card. The cashier gets angry that I used credit instead of debit and yells at me for me. I have never allowed someone to me how to charge my card and I don’t plan on started. She said “next time you do it right!” I can promise you, though, that there will not be a next time. On top of everything else, the food was not even fresh. It was obvious that it had been sitting. I've known Stanley for a decade or more since the time he started on Bay Street, next to the Fish Store, TBT!! Just the smoke alone challenged my curiosity and taste buds, especially, being a good BBQ guy, myself, and we became friends for life!! His menu is fantastic, and meats cooked to perfection, prices very, very reasonable, and homemade sauce very convincing to taste buds!! The mustard base sauce was really new to me, since moving from California to South Carolina!! I, purposely, introduced my son to him and much Godly Love was communicated amongst them!! My son enjoyed his combination BBQ plate immensely, and always raved about the food taste and quality!!!
