This motel is undergoing renovations, I only hope the room I stayed in has not yet been renovated. I found the lighting in the bedroom and bathroom extremely harsh. No lamps in the bedroom only overhead lighting, and LED-strip lighting in the bathroom making it difficult to apply makeup. While it was nice to have a refrigerator and microwave in the room, there was no coffee pot and coffee offered. I found a broken ironing board left in the room, there was a place for an iron but no iron. The in room telephone was not working which is a safety concern. The wi-fi was very slow and frustrating. When I entered the room the smell of the air freshener was overwhelming, which makes me wonder what it is trying to cover up. It was so strong I woke up feeling sick. We only had 2 bath towels which were rough, stained and threadbare. No hand towels were offered, but there were 2 washcloths in the same state as the bath towels. I am glad I travel with a towel in my car, it came in handy. The bathmat was in the same shape, dingy and stained. The chairs and bench in the room heavily stained, I would not sit or put my luggage on them. As you can probably guess by now, the bedspread was stained, the sheets dingy and questionable. I did check for bedbugs and did not find any, which was a relief! People are allowed to smoke outside the lobby door as well as outside their rooms with their doors open so you have to walk through the smoke to check in and get to your room. I am highly allergic to cigarette smoke and found this very offensive. There were no clothes hangers in the rooms. No trashcan in the bathroom. The toilet was leaky and the floor between the toilet and the tub was wet. The faucet in the bathroom sink sprayed water everywhere. When we checked out we tried to get a receipt but the lady would not give us one. Instead she said she was the only one who knew how to run it and not to worry. ???? The only reason we stayed here was because we received air miles. I am shocked American Air Lines would be associated with this motel. Now I understand why this motel has a "No Money Back" policy. Spend the extra money and stay somewhere else! I know I will receive the standard reply stating they are reviewing my comments and will send them on to management...blah, blah, BLAH! However, I have been reading other reviews and they receive the same automated response, nothing seems to get done to rectify these lousy accommodations! Again, don't waste your money here!!! I find it interesting when you go to this motel's website it only shows...
Read moreOkay so first of all I wanted to say I booked through Priceline so I think I paid a little less than their personal quote over the phone. We arrived to Savannah on Sunday afternoon still not sure where we were going to stay. We had some great food and decided to go ahead and find a cheap hotel to stay for a night or two.
Annnnnd after GAWKING at the prices of even the budget hotels in the historic district ( looking at you Quality Inn for $250/night.) So when we found this place for under $70 a night and it was only 10 minutes away from everything we wanted to do.
Definitely a get what you pay for situation but I was pleasantly surprised for the most part. Apparently the hotel is under new management so you can tell they are trying to spruce the place up. The front desk clerk when we arrived late night was extremely sweet and accommodating. The room was clean but not pristine. Sheets and towels may have a few stains but were obviously clean and smelled like they had been washed in bleach. Our room had a smart tv which I wasn’t expecting and the bed was big and firm but the hollow bed frame made us lovingly refer to it as THUNDERBED. Lol. The bathroom door was a little wonky and didn’t quite close all the way but I was with my partner and we didn’t even care.
All in all, if you are the kind of person who is used to nicer places or you don’t remember your first studio apartment in the less nice side of town cause it was cheaper, then this may not be the place for you.
But if you ask me, spending $150 on two nights at this place (closer to $200 if you don’t get an online discount) is so much better than spending more than that on one night to stay 10 mins away.
Would definitely...
Read moreI drove from Atlanta to Savannah to drive for Uber. Normally, they charge for the first nights stay plus taxes at the time of booking. Luckily, Eddie (sp?) was very professional and courteous. He allowed me to pay at the property at time of arrival. Something in the room was cleaned with bleach as the smell was so overwhelming, you had to leave the door open for 10 minutes just to breathe. (No exaggeration) The room looked like it was partially renovated. The walls were painted blue, the floor looked newer, the sheets and matching curtains were nice looking as well. The bathroom except the tub had newer tiling on the walls and the sink was newer. However, when taking a shower, half of the water leaked onto the floor. When housekeeping was told about it the next day, they did not understand as there was a language barrier. I did see 1 roach in the bathroom that was alive. I would recommend management to have the entire place exterminated. The King bed was pretty comfy being as it was not an upscale hotel. There is a Hispanic club attached to the property. No issue with that and loud noise was not a problem. The location is off of I-16 and it takes about 10 minutes to get downtown depending on traffic. For the jacked up price, the room was not worth the $300...
