Krystal Bakery — Restaurant in Sayreville

This is the first time ordering from Krystal's. Got a cake for my husband's birthday in which I provided a pic of how the cake should look. On pickup day, to my surprise on entering the bakery, there was a sign saying that debit and credit card was not accepted and that cash is the only form of payment accepted. In this day and age, no one really carries cash, I wish when I ordered and spoke to the bakery they would have mentioned that small detail to me instead of me being inconvenienced having to leave the location to withdraw cash. Upon collecting the cake, it looked nothing like the pic I provided but at that time, it was the day of my husband's birthday and I needed a cake. The cake did not go with the decor at all and the filling was not what I asked for (asked for chocolate buttercream but got vanilla) atleast it was freshly made and tasted the way it supposed to and that I do appreciate. Some places when you place a cake order, the cake usually taste stale but this was not the case. The design however was a complete failure and was definitely not executed well. I think communication is key, if a design is given and you're not able to deliver, please advise your customer so they'll know if they would like to further continue the order. They have the best cookies probably in the world. My favorite are the raspberry filled sandwich cookies dipped in chocolate and sprinkles. The cookie to raspberry to chocolate & sprinkles ratios are perfection, it’s a scientific fact. You can tell they put a lot of love into everything they make because you can taste it in every bite. Also try the seven layer cookies located in the refrigerator. There’s the traditional red white n green and they have birthday cake variety also which is just as delicious as the original. You have to try these cookies because I have tried many and they all suck in comparison. Either dried out but always my biggest complaint is not enough raspberry filling. Like are raspberries more expensive that gold? Is that why everyone else skimps on the most important thing?!? Krystal's Bakery is out of a Hallmark Christmas movie. Let me paint a picture that I had a birthday party for my children the next day at 11:15am with a call from Shoprite bakery that they did not have decorator for the cupcakes at 5pm the night before the party. We were going dessert less at a kids birthday party what a SCROOGE moment that would have been. On a hail mary I called Krystal Bakery and they happily accomadated me for 48 cupcakes the next day in the pull apart cake formation that I wanted and even on our WILD theme.
