Let's keep this straight... This is the best Thai restaurant around the area. I have been looking for a good Thai spot around Edison for 3 years. I'm glad they opened up! I'm not going to lie, I think I've been here almost every weekend.
Food: Great!!! Tana can really cook! I have not eaten anything here that tasted subpar. In fact, the food are delicious! Savory, customizable, and THAT PORTION IS REALLY GOOD FOR THE BUCK. What do I usually get? So, for what's on the menu, my favorite noodle dish is pad kee mao (drunken noodles). It is spicy so, be careful. Pad Thai is great too, as well as the pad see ew. I always get Tom Yum soup and their Thai spring rolls (noodles inside). PLEASE TRY THEIR THAI ICE TEA! All great flavors and seriously, I am praising them highly for the portion. Thank you for that!
Don't miss out on the milk bar right next door. The taro is my favorite!!!
Service: These owners are great people. Tanee is an amazing host as well as all the servers and they have always provided me my special requests. I have no complaints! They are attentive and our food comes out fast. My bf and I never had to wait. They always checked on us to make sure we have everything we need. I typically ask for the crushed peppers just in case I want more heat. They'll bring that spice to your table.
Ambiance: Place is clean, not too loud. All you mostly hear is the clanking of the utensils on the plates (it's just that good).
*note - I had made multiple requests to make my dishes a little differently (I always ask to make crunchy pork for some dishes) and they ALWAYS pushed through. In fact, there are times where Tana made me dishes that are off the menu. THAT IS ONE OF A...
Read moreThe missus and I had an event at Veterans Field in Sayreville recently and had a few minutes to kill when we realized we had not eaten dinner yet. She asked me if I had ever eaten at Truly Thai before, and I said that I truly had not. In fact, I had never eaten Thai food before. So, we walked the couple of blocks to Main Street, by the corner of Haag Street to Truly Thai.
When you walk in, you see an ice cream shop. But if you keep walking you see the dining room of a full service restaurant.
The dining room seemed friendly and inviting. There were families seated and eating dinner, and the whole place gave a warm vibe. I'd say I liked the place from the start.
The host is a kind and friendly man who recognized newbies and was ready to help make suggestions. He steered us toward a BBQ beef and a broad, flat noodle dish with chicken. We also got a container of white rice and one of fried rice. We ordered it to go and again the host made us feel welcome and as we sat in a booth waiting for our vittles brought us over two waters.
We brought our food back to the park and ate about 45 minutes later and it was STILL HOT!!! In addition to the food being still hot, it was very good. Very delicious. I am looking forward to going back to try more food from this great new cuisine from this excellent new restaurant we discovered....
Read moreI had a fantastic dining experience at Truly Thai Restaurant! I ordered the basil chicken fried rice, and it was bursting with flavor—perfectly stir-fried with fragrant Thai basil, just the right amount of spice, and tender, juicy chicken. The portion size was generous, and every bite had that authentic Thai kick I was hoping for.
For dessert, I went with the mango sticky rice, and it did not disappoint. The mango was fresh and sweet, and the warm, slightly salted coconut sticky rice brought everything together. It was the perfect ending to the meal.
What truly made the visit exceptional, though, was the service. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They made great recommendations and checked in just the right amount without being overbearing. It felt like they genuinely cared about the dining experience.
Whether you’re a Thai food fan or trying it for the first time, I highly recommend Truly Thai Restaurant: Great food, top-notch service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere—I’ll definitely be coming back and I will remember to take...
