Thai 9 — Restaurant in Scarborough

I enjoy the food here. It is a small, strip mall Thai Restaurant with very few staff members. It is clean inside and nice decor, and though they have seating, I feel it is more of a take out type location. But don't be afraid if you're planning to sit-down and eat, like is said, it has nice decor and is certainly set-up much better than other Asian Restaurants that have a couple of random tables inside of a take out restaurant. Regardless of this, each dish I have had has been excellent. The soups are the best in the area, I absolutely love their bok choy app, and have enjoyed their curries as well as many other dishes. I have eaten here a handful of times. I can see where others have complained about the courtesy of the staff, but having gotten to know them, it isn't personal. Rather, it's just the general demeanor of the people I have interacted with there. I mean honestly, walking into any restaurant right before they close is a gamble and certainly me in their shoes, after a long, tough day... my patience and humor might be diminished and certainly the food quality runs the risk of going down dramatically too. I've been there after 8pm and had great takeout... Of the Thai Restaurants in the area, I enjoyed the food here the most. I give this place five stars based on their food and recommend the staff maintain a little more patience with those later clients as this seems to be one reason your star rating is not as high. Regarding food quality and quantity, I haven't had any specific issue with this, and everything has tasted very good... So for those who are worried about this, my experience has been a positive one...

We went to this restaurant 30 minutes before closing time if that matters. The bartender/waiter asked us what we wanted in a semi impatient way. We were confused because we thought it was a restaurant that might like to make money... We asked to eat and see menus. Before ordering he informed us that the kitchen was closing in 15 minutes. I ordered green curry with chicken and my partner ordered pad Thai with pork. Both dishes had the equivalent of 3 ounces of meat in them. The pad Thai was disgusting. It was bland and only tasted heavily of fish sauce. Pork was bland. The green curry was equally poor. The beans were raw but the carrots were cooked nicely. I'm not sure how you do that. Secondly there was no flavor at all, none. I couldn't taste any coconut in the cream and there was only one tiny piece of Thai basil (which coincidentally was the best bite.)I asked for a dish that was a 4 of 5 on the hot meter. It was plenty hot but the heat was provided by large chunks of scotch bonnet peppers which is not generally a Thai pepper. As a side note, another man came in to talk to the waiter, claiming that he was trying to call and kept getting weird messages and asked what the phone number was because he thought he was calling the wrong number. The waiter walked away from the man as he was talking and pointed at the menu where the phone number was and said the kitchen was closed and went to the back. The restaurants decor was nice and appeared clean but the poor food and rude service...

Got take out from door dash. They did great only took like 25 minutes. Food was horrible. Ordered a Tokyo bowl it had extra ingredients that weren’t on the menu that I have an allergy too. The pork dumplings also had extra ingriends same allergy. My soft boiled egg was hard boiled and rotten. Tried to call to fix this but no one there actually speaks English so they just kept hanging up on me. My wife also called same result. Can’t say anything negative about eating in but after our experience tonight with the mistakes and lack of customer service I won’t be able to comment on that in the future. Would not recommend and would actually tell you to go Chaba Thai right down the street. Only ate there once but everything was correct and delicious and no rotten food. And Incase your wondering if this is true because it’s such a bad review. It took one picture and no conversation at all with door dash to get a full a refund and all we asked for was the Tokyo bowl back. That’s how bad 70 bucks of food looked. They refunded it all.
