Maria's Mexican Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Schaumburg Township

I throughly enjoyed this place! First off, Blanca the waitress greeted us as soon as we walked in and seated us in a booth right away. This place is attached to a Hot Pot restaurant so she asked before seating us which one we were here for (had no idea that the restaurants actually have a space open that connects the two). Service was great - Blanca was on top of everything! She informed us that the restaurant was under new management and that the current menu didn’t have the full selection that it would have on the menu being delivered Saturday but that they already had all the items they could cook. She suggested things like enchiladas, mole, carne asada, and other items. Hubby went with the carne asada which he said was the best he’s had - cooked a perfect medium rare. I had the chicken enchiladas in green sauce and YUM! Tortillas were packed with chicken and the chicken had a good amount of flavor. I also really enjoyed the rice. Just not the same anymore. Called to place an order, and the guy that answered the phone was extremely rude. Said I wanted a burrito with chorizo... he asks, "What protein do you want?" So I repeat, "chorizo." He says, "I know, a burrito, but what protein? Like chicken, steak, pork..." So I repeat, "chorizo"... He starts yelling, "I UNDERSTAND!" I say, apparently not, since I said chorizo several times. He continues with a rude attitude and asks what else.... I said forget it. When Maria's first opened up, we went/ ordered once a week, we liked it that much. I think they changed owners. The food isn't quite as good and after this last experience, we will never go back/order...

Food was good, as usual. Prices are OK, but a little high. Service tonight was nonexistent. Our waitress came and took our drink order. When she brought them she took our food order. Someone else brought our food when it was ready. Our waitress passed our table many, many time in the next 45 minutes, yet she never stopped once to ask how our meal was, if we wanted another drink or if we were ready for our check. She never even looked our way so we could flag her down. We finally had to ask another server for our check. Our waitress brought it with an apology.
