As long as you're a nice person, you will get nice food. Probably some of the best BBQ I've had, and that's saying quite a bit. I have been to over two dozen different BBQ restaurants around the city I live in, and this little shack happens to rank third all around, and second when it comes to the people inside.
The servicing is nice, I've never had an argument, and although I've only been twice, both times have loaded my plate with a hefty sterving of cornbread, and well around two pounds of very good food. Juicy, tender, and waiting to be eaten, whatever they put on the plate will be wonderful.
Moreover, the atmosphere is simply amazing. It's filled with just about everything a fan of BBQ, Jazz, Rock, and Blues could hope for. Not even expanding upon the wall of guitars, the folks in there will often play easy listening music at various times of the day. Whether a band is in there or not, I can almost guarantee a fun time.
Come as you will to the Arizona BBQ Shack, it's a good place with good people. ((And, if you're lucky, they might even sneak you an extra slice of brisket ;)))
Edit: for the sake of response, all I can do is edit, damn this review service. For the sake of it, I will apologize to you directly, had i known of these financial matters I may have held back in my praise. Certainly, I have never had a problem in such a way, so I will not decrease my rating too much, but i can feel for you. if there's anything for the matter, your recipes have still held up after all these years.
In totality, i have not been to Joe's Ribs myself, sad to say as i have heard good things personally, face to face. But, looking at their permanently closed status, it entirely conflicts with their almost overwhelmingly positive reviews on various sights beforehand. I also apologize for this, i cannot control my own experiences, but i can feel the struggle.
i cannot make up for the lost time or money, not in any way i believe that would matter, or that you would accept from a stranger on the internet. However, you can guarantee, i will be more careful with how i leave my reviews...
Read moreI was planning a surprise birthday party for my wife Joyce, and I choose the Arizona BBQ Shack located on 8471 E McDonald Dr. Scottsdale. At 1:09 on Thursday February 11, 2021, I stopped in and spoke to Che. The first thing I said was, I went online and filled out the Catering section on the website but no one ever responded, so I stopped in person to place my order. I should have followed my gut, and not place an order, but I did. The party was scheduled on Monday February 15th. Che said they are closed on Monday but she would fulfill my order and deliver it to my residence at 6:15pm, which was under 2 miles away. I paid in full with my credit card on 2/11 and also gave her a TIP, I called Che on Saturday 2/13 to add to the order because more people we going to attend. At 6:15pm on Monday 2/15, I was expecting the catering to arrive. I called 3 times and left messages with my cell #, and at 6:40 I drove to the AZ BBQ Shack. It was closed and dark. My guests were at my home with NO FOOD. On Tuesday morning 2/16, I was expecting a phone call from Che, but I did not receive one. At 1:00 pm on Tuesday my wife and I stopped in. She looked at me with a puzzled look and I asked her if she remembered me. She said she did, there was no apology or remorse. Her husband Joe was right behind her and he did not come out to apologize either. I put my credit card on the bar and asked if she was going to credit the 2 charges I paid. She said she was working on it. What makes me mad was Che did not take responsibility for the Big Error. There was no offer for compensation and my tip that I gave her is still in her pocket. The Customer Service I received from Che was terrible and the surprise birthday party for 15 was an absolute...
Read moreMy friend and I had come to Scottsdale to see the Birkett Family Christmas light display (Winter Wonderland)and literally stumbled on this nearby barbecue place to have a late dinner (we were here near closing time). The owner greeted us and waited on us personally, and I asked him if he was proud of his barbecue (he was) because the best barbecue is made by people who are passionate about barbecue! Believe me, I know my barbecue! I have enjoyed barbecue in all of the major barbecue states, including North and South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Texas, and others not known for barbecue but turning out some damn good barbecue! This was as good as any I have had, coast-to-coast! I had the Smokin' Blue Sandwich with sweet potato fries (an awesome pulled pork sandwich with blue cheese and coleslaw on a brioche bun) and my friend had the Brisket Sliders. We also were privileged to try the moist, tender smokey ribs on the house, because the owner said it was close to closing! Tried and enjoyed both the House and Sweet sauces. The owner also played a song for us on the baby grand. All in all, a wonderful culinary and dining experience! Will definitely return when I'm back next year. Highly recommend! PS I spent an entire month in Texas and tried barbecue in several different cities. My opinion is, it is overrated. Not the best in any of...
