Everything was going according to plan before a mob of rouge butterflies confronted us in our path. Worse, a jackrabbit suddenly hopped and blocked our path before coming to its senses. If that wasn’t enough, an anti-social hummingbird invaded our area like he or she owned the place. Speaking of anti-social, some nerd-looking kids were over there looking for Pokemon for no reason. Oh, and you can’t even walk around here without there being some crazy-looking steps to get you tired, spiral paths that probably would have led me to my demise, had I taken them, and so on. All this in one day. I’ve never been so distracted by these random, infuriating creatures. Kidding. If you want a beautiful place to walk, jog, chill, watch for UFOs, or take in some views, this is a highly recommendable ordeal to...
Read moreThis is a pretty small garden next to the Chaparral Dog Park (a 14 minute walk away from the Chaparral Park/lake area). It took me about 15-20 minutes to walk through the whole garden and read all the signs. Some of the signs kind of repeat themself (For example, there's one that goes over how to set up your house so that water flows correctly to the plants; saw that same sign at least 3 times).
The water basin near the street looked peaceful. I then walked up and took the dirt path past the restrooms toward another pavilion which was well shaded but didn't have much to see. (Highlight in that pavilion were the lavender hued flowers). The trail then ended at a spiral shaped trail and toward the bottom of that trail it became muddy and there were some flies buzzing about... An ok...
Read moreThis was a nice find for us. We are traveling from out of town and didn’t feel like going for a hike, but wanted to see some gardens and take a walk. The Xeriscape garden and landscaping are a section of a much larger park. You can take your time and go through this. There are plenty of sun and shade options. We enjoyed that we could take the walking path through the remainder of the park, roughly 2 miles around the whole thing. There’s a pond at the far end and this garden at the other with many baseball softball soccer and playground fields in between. It’s a very wide open space that can be enjoyed...
