This restaurant is a hidden gem which our family discovered few months ago and it turned to be one of our favorite family restaurants. We come from Europe, so we value not size but quality and the food here is plenty for a french restaurant and of great quality. I believe the new owners took over in Oct 215, they moved from France where the husband was a chef, but few years ago and came to Scottsdale as part of a US tour and live it, so they moved. The food is aa authentic as it comes in France, with always fresh ingredients. I love foie gras and they make their own home made foie gras pate which comes with home made onion jam and everything is absolutely delicious. The deserts are fantastic, never tried anything so good before, our family favorites are the creme brûlée and one with egg whites and burned almond and caramel - wish I can remember the name, it is unbelievable...
There are few dishes which some with sweet gam and I personally do not sweet if not in a desert, but that is just my taste and has nothing to do with the restaurant. If you are like me, just ask to put anything sweet on the site or skip it. Also, my only complain is that although the fresh fries are delicious they are not from fresh potatoes, if I would change one thing that would be it.
Lastly, they make their own bread which is complimentary, comes hot from the oven and is served with home made mayo sauce which we all love. Kids ask always for extra to deep the french fries. If you like french food you should trie the mussels and the escargots...
Read moreWe came here for my husband's birthday dinner while visiting Scottsdale. The food was very good but the service canceled out the delicious food. I am ok with slow service since I completely understand being understaffed. But the older waitress was incredibly rude. When she brought us our drinks we said we were ready to order. She rudely told us that the table next to us had been waiting a long time and that we would have to wait our turn. I've been a waitress that is not how you address the situation. Then we were told we had to order everything at once. Which we were ok with because we know some chef's prefer this. She also said we had to order the soufflé now or we would have to wait 20 min after dinner or she could interrupt us in the middle of our dinner if we didn't want to order then. That was a very strange thing to say. So we went ahead and ordered the soufflé, Once we finished our dinner she came by and said ok we will start the soufflé now, it will be 20 min! When I asked her what the point of ordering it in the beginning was she got really rude with us and said it was already in and would only be 10 min. 20 min later it came out and then she came over and asked us sarcastically if that wait was so terrible for us. Not once were our drinks refilled the entire visit. We didn't even finish the soufflé at that point we were so tired of the rudeness that was ruining the birthday dinner so we left. That waitress needs...
Read morewanted something different, and I wanted to forego any trendy, short-lived restaurants. I found this quaint spot because it took over a space that used to be our favorite cafe when we lived in the area long before kids. I googled to see what had taken it over and found amazing reviews that made my mouth water!
It's a small french bistro that's only open five nights a week for a few hours. Family owned and operated by a lovely french couple. Chef Jean-Christophe worked in Michelin star restaurants for years in France. His wife, Segolene, is a lovely woman who made great suggestions and served all the beautiful dishes.
I started with a french martini and my husband with his go-to lemon drop. Our hors d'oeuvres was smoked salmon and capers on toast. For my entree I chose The scallops on a bed of spinach, topped with a puff pastry, and served with a shallot sauce. Rich, creamy and wonderful. My husband chose the rack of lamb with potatoes au gratin. It was served in a beautiful flaming presentation. For dessert we sipped cappuccinos while enjoying our lemon meringue and chocolate tarts.
We were the youngest couple by 30 years. It was quiet and lovely listening to other patrons talk with Segolene about their families coming from France or their past...
