Tip from a resident to renters - avoid. There are much better pizza places in SIC (see below). Its worth walking a few minutes farther to go somewhere else. Here you will wait A LONG time and pay A LOT for a soggy piece of thin lukewarm dough.
After a nearly two-hour wait, wrong orders, terrible/apathetic service and management, and overpriced soggy, lukewarm pizza, DeNunzio’s has officially fallen from local favorite to our last choice in SIC.
We have cooled on DeNuzio's over the past few years but wanted to give it one more shot. It used to be great. What a mistake.
Pizza took an 1:45 to arrive because our waitress forgot to put it in and they were "busy". It also took 1:45 to get a salad. They got our drink orders wrong. Service was terrible, no one came to check on us, even after most of the place had cleared out and even though managers were about. After almost 2 hours we finally told them to box it up when it was ready because we were done.
To no one's surprise, when we ate it at home, the pizza was terrible. It was a soggy piece of thin lukewarm dough they pass off as "pizza" even though it was supposedly freshly made. No one, from New York to Chicago would be impressed. We ordered the the G-man which came with cold sausage and 100% raw vegetables. None were cooked.
Again, we aren't renters and sadly we've seen a huge decline in this previous go-to pizza joint over the years, now the perpetual losers in our SIC pizza blind-tasting contests - FWIW Panzini's and Berardi Brothers are the usual winners. (The ONLY bright spot was the bus boy who did the...
Read moreThis was a terrible experience, of which I had the privilege of spending $59 and change. We ordered 2 Italian hoagies (which they call Subs... which is a violation) and a chicken cheesesteak. We waited approximately 40 minutes, and when we questioned the wait time, were told "we are busy". Turns out they missed the ticket. Back to the food... I ordered and paid for sweet and hots on the hoagies. When we got back to the beach and opened the box, no hot or sweets on the hoagies. So... $4.00 down the drain. The meats were very dry, and the red onions had a very thick cut. If you are going to call your hoagie (sub) gourmet.... just saying. When my daughter opened the chicken cheesesteak she ordered, she initially thought there was no cheese on the cheesesteak. It looked so dry. As she ate it, she said she was starting to taste cheese. So there was cheese but... not so much if you are calling it a chicken cheesesteak. Also, I ordered and paid for 2 medium soft drinks. They served us 2 small drinks. I pointed this out and they poured the drinks into the medium cup and added more ice and soda to the cup. When our order was FINALLY competed, they stacked the boxes on top of each other and handed them to us. I had to ask if they had a bag, which they totally had. I...
Read moreFirst off I’d like to say that the food speaks for itself. The ingredients were fresh, the dough was remarkable, and the quality overall in every dish I ordered was impeccable. The other reason why I’m writing this review is due to the individuals that (I’m assuming) owned the establishment. The one gentlemen was in the middle of a food order and he took the time out of his day to stop what he was doing and come over to us and give my 3 year old daughter a dough tossing show. Not to mention if you have small children they are kind enough to provide your little ones with a dough ball to keep them entertained until your food arrives. Everyone there was so kind and the devotion to their craft was visible and translated through the food and the experience they provided for my family. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area or people who are visiting the Jersey shore. Considering I live close to New York and in an area of Jersey that’s well known for delectable pizza and various Italian dishes, it’s nice to know I now have a new place at the shore to go to and get a...
