Sad update. Oy Mios Dio, how far this place is fallen! Food was nowhere near as good as it was the first time we came here, service was at best subpar. I literally had to get up from my table after waiting 15 minutes to go find someone to get utensils for the steamer seafood mix we had and even request butter. Furthermore, the prices seem to have gone up by a good 10% to 20% on the menu, yet the food is not as good a quality as it used to be. Complimentary items such as hush puppies are at a premium. Hush puppies are now thick and heavy where before they were large and airy, not thick heavy and I swear commercial made now, I swear I've gotten better hush puppies with more flavor lighter and more airy from fast food seafood shops with a pirate theme. I don't know if it's a new cook, changing recipe or substandard ingredients. But I am not impressed, quite the opposite and very let down.
As for the atmosphere, oy mios dio, the most unwelcoming atmosphere I've ever walked into. The volume of the music was so loud I could barely make out what the waitress was saying let alone what my wife was saying across the table and she's within 24 in? The music they were playing the first time we were here was, lively not real loud just enough for ambiance, but this time it was some wrist splitting annoying squalling that was just four times, five times too loud. I mentioned it to the waitress and she just smiled and nodded her head.
I will be very hard for us to even return here if this is the way they are going to not only treat their customers, the kind of food they are going to serve now and the atmosphere they are going to present, which I said is unwelcome in your best. I literally will not be recommending this place any longer.
Old review Okay this place has really good food, the only suggestion I made to the manager was put cilantro in their rice to help compliment the food itself. Especially your fajitas or something Latino related. We took home about half of whatever we ordered maybe a little more, and it was good the next day as leftovers reheated. There was only one wait person on the floor, of course we went early so that's not uncommon but She did very well. She was extremely friendly, she checked on us and her other two or three tables a lot that was spread throughout the restaurant, so all in all pretty damn good. The atmosphere was friendly not too loud on the music thankfully and you could carry a normal conversation without having to raise your voice over background noise. Bathrooms are clean and maintained.
The hush puppies are huge, I ordered a 10 order, probably should have ordered the five we wound up taking most of them home lol. They were just as good the next day, I reheated them in my air fryer and they did not have a lot of greasy flavor to them or texture and they pretty much fell apart after you open them up. The crab that my wife got in her bag boil, which was not served in a bag but a metal plate with a cover, was a pretty good size, the shrimp were nice and large the sausage was really good and they use red potatoes as well as quarter corn cobbettes.
Basically is a very good experience, our first time there was excellent, our weight person was a dream and sweet and just very attentive, everything was really good. Even the manager came to check on us and that's when I suggested they put cilantro in their rice to compliment the fajitas that I had lol. What can I say I grew up in a restaurant environment and the...
Read moreI have been putting off writing this review because my husband said the people were so nice I shouldn't give a bad review. The people working there were incredibly nice and accommodating basically telling me I could order something anyway I wanted it. I got fried oysters. The batter was just OK, not amazing. I got the grilled oysters on the half shell. It's one of my favorite dishes so I was really looking forward to it. BOY WAS I DISAPPOINTED! It tasted like someone had dumped French Onion Soup over them and topped them with parmesan cheese. Don't get me wrong, I love French Onion Soup but not on my oysters. My husband ordered crab cakes. Having had a crab cake in Baltimore at a fine eating establishment, I knew what it should taste like and what the texture should be. Both were off. Fries and onion rings were ok. Homemade sauces were standouts as was the impeccable friendliness of the staff. I told my husband I eventually had to write this because this meal was not something I would spend $60 on again. My comment to the chef and owner however is...if you came up with those sauces on your own, you can fix what's wrong with the oysters. You have an awesome menu. Good luck improving the...
Read moreDecided to try this place I've heard a few good things about this restaurant. I'm not sure if this is normal but the service was fast and good. Food came out pretty fast and was fresh too. I say I don't know if this is normal because it is a new location and they may be trying to bring in the people. Time will tell if the service stays the same. I hope so I plan on coming back. The beer was cold and the food was good. I don't have any complaints about my waitress or my eating experience. Did notice they don't have your traditional Chips and salsa you typically get at mexican restaurants they do have a basket of crackers. The only reason I gave 4 stars on atmosphere is because I felt the music was a little loud I found myself having to almost yell to have a conversation. I'm sure the people at the bar would think different. But if you are in there with the family and you want to have a conversation it does make it a little difficult. The music was great he played a little bit of everything was just a little too loud, that's all. I highly recommend...
