When I got here, I was a little bit surprised that there was no line, as I kind of expected one. It was on a weekend, but slightly after the normal lunch hour. Since I've heard a lot of things, I decided to try a bunch of things. I got the fancy breakfast sandwich, english muffin with sourdough, cinnamon twist, and a salted caramel cookie
Starting with the breakfast sandwich, it was good, but I was expecting better. The brioche buns were quite nice on the outsides - they were toasted very well and super soft. Also, the souffled egg tasted great. However, the rest of the stuff was just kind of average. The cheese was essentially nonexistent - if I didn't know the description of the item beforehand I would've assumed that it was just a sausage & egg sandwich with no cheese involved. Also, the sausage just tasted like your average breakfast sandwich sausage you can find at like McDonald's
The english muffin was a bit better, but not that much so. Obviously, salted butter makes everything taste better, so that was nice. The outside was pretty crispy as well, but I did find the muffin to be quite chewy - to the point where it was annoying to eat. The jam also wasn't amazing either - I ended up not using the majority of it. The inside was really fluffy and nice though.
Moving onto the desserts, my favorite of these was the salted caramel cookie, as it was well salted, had a good crunch to it, and was well-baked. The inside was not really gooey at all, but the chocolate was still nicely melted. On the contrary, the cinnamon twist was actively bad. It felt stale, cold, and eating it gave me basically no enjoyment at all
The total for these 4 items came out to around 30 dollars, which is kind of a lot. I think each of these items are either slightly or a good amount overpriced, with the donut probably being the worst of these, with the english muffin being the most reasonable
Overall, I see hints of the high quality I've heard about, but it's not enough to make me come...
Read moreBenâs bread has been hyped up and I was excited to try it, but the quality, flavor, and price of the food we got was extremely disappointing. Iâve been to countless bakeries in the Seattle area, and unfortunately, this is one I donât recommend.
My partner and I went on Saturday morning , the line was around the building but moved quickly. The space inside is small and cramped considering how busy they were. Seeing the bakers at work was fun while we waited for our food.
I got an iced vanilla, oat latte - it was mid at best.
My partner and I both got brioche breakfast sandwiches, one sausage and one with sauteed greens - they were the most bland breakfast sandwiches weâve ever had. I didnât finish mine, which is saying a lot bc I love to eat. Itâs strange, they didnât taste like anything.
I love a bit of burn on my bread but the benne miso scallion loaf was so burnt on the bottom that we couldnât eat it.
The blue corn cookie is unique and the texture was perfect. My partner liked it but I think it just tastes like sweet corn bread lol. This one is just a personal preference thing
The olive oil cake was the one thing I was impressed with. It was perfectly moist and flavorful. I would def get that again.
For $65+, plus tax and tip, I felt like our money was wasted with this visit. Honestly would...
Read moreThanksgiving pie review - on Thanksgiving because it was THAT good. Buy the damn $50 pie from Benâs Bread and donât even debate the laborious efforts to make your own. Youâll love it so much youâll want to buy multiple next year. I debated making my own pie. Iâm a dietitian so I like to cook and I like to know whatâs in my foodâŠbut as my husband put it bluntly âYou canât make pie like thisâ (mic drop). And heâs not wrong. The crust was the perfect intersection of a churro croissant and an award winning pie dough (like Broadway star energy pie dough) and the filling was ooey, gooey, extra apple-y deliciousness. And for all those wondering, there was no skimping on the filling. The layers of apples were layering beautifully. This pie did not need ice cream and letâs be real folks, how many pies can really stand on their own?? Also 5 stars for pie pick-up because it literally could not have been easier. My husband didnât even have my receipt or know what flavor pie I ordered (oops!) but he did know my name (lol) and thatâs all he needed! So follow them on IG, hop on those pre-orders immediately next year, and I promise you wonât regret buying the damn pie. Ben - will there be post Thanksgiving pie for the folks who are sad they didnât...
