Fully & purely vegetarian and vegan Vietnamese restaurant: delicious and incredibly fresh; extensive menu; very polite & attentive servers.
You don’t have to be a vegetarian to enjoy this incredibly tasty fare as the dishes are bursting with flavor!
OPEN TIL 10pm!! Not only is this a place I want to eat; In this neighborhood past 830, it’s like the only place to eat besides Aladdin’s on the Ave lol.
It’s new, just opened in July, check it out. Located adjacent to the Roosevelt subway station.
You know they understand what a vegetarian versus vegan is when you order a bahn mi tofu sandwich and the server immediately asks “if mayonnaise is OK because it contains eggs?”
Menu was extensive, everything on it was either vegetarian or vegan, the sandwiches were incredibly delicious with absolutely fantastic fresh bread, the vegan pho had delicious broth.
Lots of choices of noodle dishes, rice dishes, vegetable dishes, tofu dishes, plus lots of different type types of fake meat, like fake chicken, fake steak, fake shrimp. Unbelievably tasty bahn mi (my favorite in the city), including a mushroom based one!!
Eating out is pricey, but this place is so totally worth it.
My Photo of The bahn mi vegan sandwich is only half of the sandwich: the first half I ate so quickly I couldn’t even get a picture of the...
Read moreCame in last night with 3 friends and had a great experience! Wasn’t to hush and got seated right away.
We first ordered some drinks and we had the lychee blossom, sweet mama sour, and big papa, favorite of the 3 was the sweet mama sour but big papa a close second!!
The menu is huge with a full vegan menu so they have something for everyone.
First we ordered the shrimp salad roll which was really fresh! Peanut sauce was great and asked for fish sauce on the side and paired well with that!
Crab Rangoon was good size and filling was very good!
Skewer sampler was also delicious, marinated very well and good variety for the 4 of us, the beef tenderloin skewer was my favorite.
Salt and pepper shrimp with shell on was probably my favorite dish, it was seasoned well and quality shrimp, next time I might get some rice to finish off all of the garnishes.
We also got the tomato noodle soup- Bun Rieu, very flavorful and authentic!
Service was great but they just opened and they were still testing out some things so that’s understandable.
Overall great meal and would highly recommend, will come back to try...
Read moreI was really looking forward to welcoming Papa Kitchen to the neighborhood, but opening-night left a poor first impression. At 9:00 p.m.—well into the dinner hour—the staff was drilling into the concrete wall. The vibrations carried through the whole building, rattling dishes and making it hard for the tenants above (myself included) to wind down for the night.
When I went down to speak with them, the woman who greeted me was polite and said she’d ask the team to stop, but the drilling continued for some time afterward. Beyond the noise, power-drilling in an open dining area raises questions about dust control and food safety.
Growing pains happen, and I understand that new restaurants need last-minute fixes. Still, respecting your residential neighbors—especially on a Friday night—sets the tone for good community relations. I hope Papa’s Kitchen adjusts its maintenance schedule (or at least gives advance notice) so we can all enjoy our evenings without the late-night construction soundtrack. I’d love to update this review once those issues are addressed.
