â Rating: 5/5 Schnitzel Fritz â Widefield/Security, Colorado
My pregnant daughter was craving vinegary German food, so we decided to try Schnitzel Fritz â and Iâm so glad we did! Weâve officially tried all the German restaurants around here (Edelweiss, Uweâs, etc.), and this one takes the win for freshness and authenticity.
Edelweiss lost me when I found metal in my food, and Uweâs was serving steamed frozen vegetables, which is just⌠no thanks. đ But Schnitzel Fritz? Total opposite. Everything here is fresh, flavorful, and clearly made from scratch â no out-of-the-bag veggies in sight!
Yes, itâs a little on the pricey side, but itâs a small mom-and-pop âhole in the wallâ restaurant, and honestly, itâs worth every penny for the quality and care they put in.
Now, for those complaining that âGerman food is too vinegaryâ â yâall just donât understand traditional German cuisine. That tangy flavor is part of its history and charm!
The only small thing Iâd tweak is the cucumber salad â the dressing is so good (a homemade dill and cream cheese mix, NOT ranch đ), but the cucumbers could be drained a bit more so itâs not watery. Still, the flavor is amazing and it comes with fresh homemade bread thatâs absolutely delicious. đ
Their desserts are awesome, too â and the people running the place are super sweet and welcoming.
All in all, this spot met every one of my daughterâs pregnancy cravings and then some! Weâve already been back a couple of times, and Iâm sure it wonât be our...

From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is bright, clean, and welcoming, reflecting the warmth of a family-run business. âThe food is nothing short of incredible. I highly recommend the Jaeger Schnitzel; it was perfectly cookedâtender on the inside, crispy on the outside, and smothered in a rich, traditional mushroom gravy that tasted completely homemade. The generous portion size is very satisfying! Don't skip the sides either; the Spätzle is delicate and delicious, and the German Potato Salad has that perfect acidic zing. âBeyond the restaurant, the in-house German market and bakery are a huge bonus. It's a fantastic spot to grab fresh bread, European candies, or imported pantry staples. The staff is always friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely proud of their culinary heritage. If you are craving hearty, authentic German cuisine, make the trip to Schnitzel Fritzâyou won't be...
Read moreThis restaurant is the closest you will get to real German food in Colorado. The Schnitzel is fantastic, and I love the German cakes. I don't have much of a sweet tooth, and the cakes are perfect for that, as they don't have a lot of sugar in them. The owner makes them all from scratch and she puts a lot of work into them, and the result of that is fond memories of Germany in every bite of cake.
While this restauraunt serves mainly German food, they also import a lot of groceries from all over Europe, even from lesser known regions like the Balkans. I am always able to find what I need when I want to make a European recipe.
The owner and her employees are also super friendly and always make sure to make sure each and every customer has what they need, even when they get crazy busy during peak hours.
I always feel like family when I visit and cannot wait to be back...
