Service: I really wanted to like this place as there are not a lot of BBQ options along 113 but after this experience, I won't be returning. Arrived at 4:30 and the waiter did not mention 1/2 price appetizers from 2-5 and when we ordered entrees did not tell us they would be half price starting at 5PM. I definitely would have waited a half hour to take advantage of that and the only reason I knew about that is I heard the waitress mention it to the tables she had. Also not a fan of the credit card surcharge not being mentioned. Food: Pulled pork was very good with a nice vinegar based sauce. Cole slaw was a bit dry for my taste but the hush puppies were crisp on the outside and soft inside, just right. Brisket was more like a pot roast with thick slices and a definite lack of smoke. But accompanying sides of collard greens and corn bread were both tasty.
So basically I would give the restaurant another shot if I did not feel that I paid double the price I should have for the same meal someone ordered 30 minutes later. After seeing the gracious response of the owner I would like to amend my response to add a star as obviously they care about their business's relationship...
Read moreThe best part of my two tries was the service. The first time we had the pulled pork BBQ and the brisket BBQ as well as the brisket nachos. Asked for raw onion for both sandwiches, didn't receive any and they forgot to put BBQ sauce in with the order. The nachos had hardly any cheese the chips weren't salted and for being pit roasted meat, it really didn't have any smoky flavor. Very light handed on seasoning as well. I called and expressed my dissatisfaction and the gentleman who mans the host stand said to give a second try. I did again tonight. Once again, I would say the food is mediocre at best. Opted to get onion rings for the appetizer this time which were very good. Again the meat isn't very flavorful. They did give me my BBQ sauce and a 20% discount on this order for the past experience. Much appreciated but I honestly wouldn't make another effort to dine there again. Very disappointed, especially with the glowing reviews that prompted me to...
Read moreWe went to the Selbyville location for lunch. When we walked in the smell of the food was amazing. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. However, the bottom of the brioche roll was totally soggy so I ended up using a fork to eat it. Also, the sandwich already had carolina BBQ sauce on it when brought to the table. It was a bit too vinegary for my liking as I prefer a little sweeter. But again, that's my personal preference. Would have been better to put the sauce on the side. Might have kept the roll from getting soggy too. My husband ordered the pit beef brisket sandwich. It was chunks of beef as opposed to sliced pit beef that he was expecting and his roll was soggy as well. Said it tasted like plain old roast beef as opposed to pit beef. Needless to say, we were a little bit disappointed and left half the food on our plates. It cost us $52 counting tip and the $3 upcharge for paying with our bank card that we were not made aware of till it was...
